wordpress.org/education: Problems loading the editor and published templates showing outdated content compared to the live version

I’m experiencing two issues while trying to edit pages on the Main Theme Test 2022 site:

First, some pages open as a blank white screen in the editor (see screenshot below) instead of loading normally. However, in some cases, I’m still able to access them through previously saved direct edit links in the browser.

Second, the /education pages (campus-connect, credits, and student-clubs) are displaying content on the live site that does not match the published content shown in the editor. In some cases, the Draft versions of the pages appear to match the live site content more closely than the versions currently marked as Published.

Could this possibly be related to access permissions, or syncing issue?

@debciriaoc The Test site uses the production templates, but does not have the content in the editor, as the content only exists on the production site. This is somewhat expected.

We should probably decommission the test site, or make production-pages non-editable.

Hi @dd32 thanks for the clarification!
I understand the content differences now, but I still have one question regarding the layout issues on some breakpoints

Since those issues are only appearing on the production site for me, is there a recommended way to mirror/sync that version in the editor so I can properly correct the layouts? What do you recommend?

I recorded a quick video with a few examples in case it helps identify what is happening on my side. It shows:

• The editor failing to load from the page list, but opening correctly through a direct bookmarked link
• My current access/permissions, where the “Editor” option does not appear under Appearance
• Acomparison between the template version and the live production page, where the production version shows layout issues that are not present in the template or published page editor.

Hopefully this gives a bit more context and helps narrow down what might be happening.

@debciriaoc The working url you've opened is the Site Editor, not the Page Editor. Can't use the Site Editor on WordPress.org, because it's a hard-coded theme (You can use it, but it breaks stuff).

If you need edit access to live templates, first step is to get access to the WordPress.org site, rather than the testing site.

I don't have any answers on the questions on how to use WordPress or fix stuff.
