v0.10.44 — Move along and hang on to Metropolis Speedway's train pole
Changes
- Controller: move along Metropolis Speedway's train pole (#339, in part). While hanging from the train's pole, the left stick now moves you to the next hold on its left or right, so you can line up for the shortcut after dropping off, as the No Kinect Patch allowed. The game read the lean from a different place than the one the controller filled in.
- Controller: keep hanging on to the train pole (#339, in part). You no longer have to hold the right stick up the whole way: once you grab the pole, you hang on to the end of the train with the stick let go, as with the No Kinect Patch. The train lets go of a rider whose hands drop below the shoulders, and a controller's hands were down whenever the right stick was not pushed up.
Everything else is the same as v0.10.43.
Validation
- The fixes: checked in the game on Windows with the same scripted Metropolis Speedway race, built with and without each fix:
- left and right on the pole: before, the rider stays on the same line whatever the stick does; after, the left stick moves one hold left and right moves one hold right;
- hanging on: before, the rider falls to the road a second after the right stick is let go; after, they hang on to the end of the train.
- Windows x64 package, Vulkan, with the validation layer: a whole Dolphin Resort race with no validation errors (speed 1.000, all 455 pipelines prepared). The title movie, Sharp scaling and an Avatar award in the middle of a race were also checked (the Avatar award case was run twice: the first time the scripted menu route ended in the Relay Race menu, the second time it reached the race and the award went through).
- macOS (M1) package: a whole Dolphin Resort race at full speed (1.000), no MoltenVK errors.
- AYN Thor, this release's APK (Android 10+):
- Dolphin Resort at full speed (60 fps, 0.999), still racing on the 2nd lap.
- Touch controls and Tilt to lean on: 0.997.
- Camera motion on (the Thor has no camera): 0.999.
- Threads on one core: 0.994, with the phone cool (33 °C).
- Linux archive: built on Ubuntu 22.04 (needs glibc 2.35), with the camera runtime next to the game.
- Android APKs: same signing key as before, so they install over 0.10.43.
- Unit tests:
- 179 passed on Linux, 187 on Windows.
- On macOS, 176 of 178 passed; the 2 that failed are the same tests that earlier releases failed, and the macOS GitHub Actions run leaves them out.
- GitHub Actions builds and tests passed on Windows, Linux, macOS and Android.
- Not tested:
