Image captures above 1600x1200 not working

Running the example from this library with an SD card installed. Works as expected for resolutions up to 1600x1200:

However, at the next highest setting, and all settings higher, the capture fails:

I'm seeing the same issue with the Arduino version of the code. The corresponding Circuit Python code works as expected.

Just to note, I found a user mentioning this in discord:

I am having a hard time getting the memento camera in Arduino Cpp to capture photos in the 3 highest resolutions. I am not entirely sure whats happening. When I use the provided arduino code for the camera it also fails to take pictures in the highest resolutions. The camera worked fine with circuit python so I know its not a hardware malfunction.

I used the latest pioarduino platform release platform = https://github.com/pioarduino/platform-espressif32/releases/download/55.03.32/platform-espressif32.zip instead of the normal platformio espressif32@6.5.0, and the learn guide code/zip from here (which has the older pycamera 1.0.5 release in /lib):

I had to alter the main.cpp to not call readButtons twice (else button state gets overwritten and ignores presses), but mainly I had to set the initial config to point to the largest image size like the comment suggests.
The Memento supports FRAMESIZE_QSXGA selection max resolution in the button menu, and the top 3 resolutions were intermittently/often failing with cam_hal: FB-OVF, from the esp_camera HAL suggesting too small buffer or xclk timing.
The default config frame size is setup too small with XVGA.
