Installing adafruit-pitft.py on Trixie Desktop results in username/password request

Behavior

After installing adafruit-pitft.py on Trixie, it requests username/password on device startup everytime.

So far, I've only tried on Desktop with the 2.8" Capacitive display.

Enabling auto-login through raspi-config has no effect. Booting with a display connected also has the same result.

Here is the .xsession-errors file:

I'm trying to create a new image so I can compare the 2 and see what changed.

Ok, I'm making progress. I figured out it is something in these lines causing the chaos:

        shell.run_command("apt-get -y install rpd-plym-splash")     # Install Splash Screen
        shell.run_command("raspi-config nonint do_boot_splash 0")   # Enable Splash Screen
        shell.run_command("apt-get -y install raspberrypi-ui-mods") # Reinstall Raspberry Pi OS UI mods
        shell.run_command("raspi-config nonint do_boot_target B2")  # Boot to Desktop

Ok, I figured out which line caused it. It was:

sudo apt-get -y install raspberrypi-ui-mods

I also noticed this during the install:

dpkg: error processing archive /tmp/apt-dpkg-install-4jpmk6/14-raspberrypi-ui-mods_1.20250411+b1_arm64.deb (--unpack):
 trying to overwrite '/usr/share/xgreeters/pi-greeter-labwc.desktop', which is also in package pi-greeter (1.0)
Errors were encountered while processing:
 /tmp/apt-dpkg-install-4jpmk6/14-raspberrypi-ui-mods_1.20250411+b1_arm64.deb
