UART example does not work under Angstrom latest production image 09/04

Please verify that the Adafruit_BBIO package still works under the latest released image for Angstrom 09/04. I've installed it according to Adafruit's tutorial, which completes without error. But all of the UART examples given in the tutorial fails to work.

Which version of Adafruit_BBIO are you using?

Also, you may need to uninstall/reinstall if you've done an update to the library using pip.

I've used the "pip install Adafruit_BBIO" command line. I was under the assumption that this install the latest version18?

***Update, it is version 18, i've reflashed my BBB from scratch with the 09/04 image and i see that it downloads the 0.0.18.tar.gz package when calling "pip install Adafruit_BBIO"

Can you suggest any more troubleshooting steps?

I've you've installed it in the last couple of days, you should have version 18. Was just making sure that you hadn't installed 17 and then updated to 18 via pip. Version 18 changed how UART works.

Can you run this in your console and paste the results?

ls -ltr /lib/firmware/ADAFRUIT*

What are the actual errors you get when trying to use UART?

Using the example:
import Adafruit_BBIO.UART as UART
import serial

UART.setup("UART1")

ser = serial.Serial(port = "/dev/ttyO1", baudrate=9600)
ser.close()
ser.open()
if ser.isOpen():
print "Serial is open!"
ser.write("Hello World!")
ser.close()

Eventually, you'll want to clean up, but leave this commented for now,

as it doesn't work yet

RESULT:

1. There is no ttyO1 in my /dev folder... only a ttyO0 ( is this normal???)
2. the indentation is not correct on line ser.write("Hello World") => I've corrected this...

I've got a bare bones BBB Version A5B, with no capes attached, and a newly freshly installed Angstrom 09/04 image in eMMC

And followed your tutorial step-by-step on Adafruit... My guess is that something changed in the 09/04 image compared to the one you tested (06/06)

Just a side note: your GPIO , PWM examples in the tutorial works for me.. i'll try ADC,I2C and SPI later tonight...
