This discussion is designed to illicit feedback on the best domain name for Agora's new cloud platform. Please share any thoughts you have on names and which ones you like best. To help, here are some background on the name, mission of the project, and what we hope the name will convey:

First Agora's definition:

Agora - Place in Ancient Greek villages/cities where people gathered, traded, exchanged ideas (Taglines: “Gather together”, “Your virtual town square”, “Be together”)

Mission: To create a free and open decentralized research repository and learning environment. Individuals can safely collect, organize, share information, research, teach and learn without the platform in which they are working being affiliated with any academic institution or corporation.

Currently academic institutions of all sizes support closed learning and digital collaboration environments. This new cloud platform would strive to be a attractive alternative for all students and teachers regardless of their affiliations. Data within the system would be owned by the individual and the system would be managed as a public service and governed by a not for profit ...

Agora is the name of the open source software (this repository), that drives the proposed cloud based, non-profit platform. This thread is seeking feedback and ideas on the name of the cloud platform. While many current ideas include names based around the open source software name "Agora" this is not an explicit requirement. Here are some initial thoughts on what we hope the name will convey:

1. Decentralization / community ownership
2. Expressing the digitization of the concept of an Agora (a central public space) or open and free environment promoting education, research and other learning focused activities.
3. Open collaboration

Another option is to leave Agora out of the cloud platform name and leave it to be the open source software project elusively. Here are some Latin words that might fit with the mission / goals:

2. doctrina.app Latin doctrina: meaning "teaching, instruction"
