Overrinded browser shortcuts are anoying

CMD + L opens jump to line dialog, which is annoying since it's quite frequently used as jump to location bar shortcut in Firefox :(

Can another non conflicting combination be used for that ?

In vim you can do it:

1. :<number><enter>
   Where : focuses cmd line in normal mode, where you type line and hit
   to execute.
2. <number><G>
   Also in normal mode you can type number followed by shift+g to jump to the typed
   line.

I guess it's not very relevant since you don't have normal / input modes :(

I think it would be best to have functionality in place (through cmd-line) and then allow configuration of key-bindings, one will go all the way with vim like modes while other will stick to CMD + L / G

Also CMD + g / G is shortcut for next / previous (search) match in Firefox and in most of code editors I know, so it's not very good alternative either :(

Also I guess CMD + SHIFT + L would work fine

Right CMD+G is also taken by Ace to jump to the next match :(

We could use Alt-L but this means the user has to relearn.

I would like more browser shortcuts overridden. For example Ctrl/Cmd+W closes tab. I quite frequently use that to close a tab in every IDE I use and thus always end up closing my development tab in Cloud9!

Perhaps shortcut configuration is needed?

On the same note. Not implementing common keyboard shortcuts is very annoying too.

 Ctrl+Shift+Home and Ctrl+Shift+End

don't work.

Is this a windows standard? I have optimized the mac mode so far but if you can point me to a list of default windows edit shortcuts I will add them.

Ctrl+Shift+Home selects from the cursor to the beginning of a document/textarea.
Ctrl+Shift+End selects from the cursor to the end of a document/textarea.

I can't find any "official" keyboard-shortcut documentation...but I've used the shortcuts in Visual Studio, Dreamweaver, Notepad, Word, Excel, Photoshop, MSPaint, this textarea, and I don't think I've ever had it not work when expected (till now). :-)

I just tried it on Firefox on Ubuntu 10.10 in a textarea and it works there too.

I assumed it was standard on Mac as this article lists "Cmd-Shift-Home/End" as a valid shortcut in Dreamweaver 8.

I just checked out Ace and this CMD+L thing seems to still be a problem... What the status? Are we just waiting for a pull request? I'll give a stab at it if no one else is working on it...

cmd-option-f also has this issue - in Safari it should focus the browser search box, but Ace uses it for "search and replace".

Is there a way to selectively disable keyboard shortcuts in ace without removing them from /lib/ace/commands/default_commands.js? I see this in the Google Group, but it seems kind of dated, and there isn't much explanation as to what that code is supposed to do.

It's really just CMD+L that we're not entirely happy with.

there are many ways to get rid of unwanted keybindings or commands commands e.g.

editor.commands.bindKeys({"ctrl-l":null, "left":null})  // or
editor.commands.bindKey("tab", null) // or
editor.commands.removeCommands(["gotoline", "find"])

@nightwing I'm aware of that, but still think that cmd-l really should not be taken by default.
