MetaFor 0.4.10

API-key setup can now be dismissed to read saved chats. An Add API key reminder stays available. Settings distinguishes a saved key from verified access to the default Meta provider, and rejected credentials point back to Settings.

New profiles start empty. Reinstalling or updating preserves the Mac's existing conversations, Help history, and settings; this release does not reset storage or change the app identity.

Apple silicon and macOS 26+ are required. Bring your own model API key and internet connection. Help needs Screen Recording permission. This preview is ad-hoc signed, not Developer ID signed or notarized.

Validation: 219 desktop tests, 248 conversation tests, typecheck, web and desktop builds, signature and DMG verification. Isolated packaged-runtime checks cover empty profiles, missing/rejected credentials, saved-chat browsing without a key, and chat/draft persistence. Keychain and provider responses are synthetic in these checks; no new live-provider or native screen-capture test is claimed.

Metafor 0.4.9 Preview

Metafor 0.4.9 requires your own API key during first-time setup.

• The first-open guide now leads directly to Add API key. Blank keys are rejected, and setup reopens after restarting if no key was saved.
• Fresh Mac profiles start with no chats or Help history. The installer includes no saved conversations, credentials, or user profile.
• Reinstalling preserves existing local chats and unsent drafts. Existing saved-key recovery remains available.

Validation: 214 desktop tests, TypeScript, desktop packaging, strict app signature verification, and DMG integrity checks pass. The packaged main process, preload, renderer, and Chromium storage were checked with two isolated profiles: both began empty, key setup was required, and a saved conversation plus unsent draft survived relaunch unchanged. Native windows were hidden, Keychain was mocked, and zero provider requests were made; the check did not access the user's profile or test live-provider authentication.

Metafor 0.4.8 adds a brief first-open guide to Metafor Chat and Metafor Help.

• Learn how to explore connected topics and ask focused follow-up questions.
• Learn the Option + M shortcut for opening and hiding compact screen-aware Help.
• Open model Settings directly from the guide, or reopen it through Metafor → Quick start….
• Completion is saved separately from model settings and conversation history. Help-only activation remains unchanged.
