If Smartshift could publish (via websocket), its current suggested action (buy, sell, hold, consume), DIY and third party systems could perform the actions needed to implement the action, or they could choose to override.
This would be useful to systems that can be controlled locally via modbus or similar to reduce the complexity for Amber and battery/inverter Vendors.
As a DIYer, I could ignore or follow the published SS "advice" from one moment to the next without causing SS any extra work.
Third party systems that curtail unsupported solar could listen for the simple advice from SS without needing to fetch prices.
People who get up at 5am to disable Smartshift to stop it selling off in the mornings could have timed periods where they ignore the advice and keep the battery at a higher SOC.
There's probably a whole bunch of other ways you could use this concept, and from Amber's POV, it's simply publishing its best advice right now over a low bandwidth solution.
