Dirwise v1.6.1
Dirwise 1.6.1
✨ New
- New Share icon in the style of Windows 11 in the toolbar – thanks to @Doomguy-BFG9000 (#14).
- Consistent toolbar icons – all buttons on the right are the same size, weight and colour, sit on one line and are grouped with even spacing (view switcher and sort | share and tags | split view and More). Tags no longer look greyed out when nothing is selected; clicking shows “Select a file”.
- Publisher Arcly Studio – shown in the installer and in Apps & features. Upgrading from 1.6.0 replaces the existing installation – no second copy, settings are kept.

Important
Upgrading from 1.6.0 or older: just run Dirwise_1.6.1_x64-setup.exe. The installer may ask for the language once more and shows the uninstaller of the previous version – click Close there and the installation continues.
Full changelog: v1.6.0...v1.6.1
Dirwise is also available in the Microsoft Store.
Note
Windows SmartScreen warning? The installer isn't code-signed yet, so Windows may show "Windows protected your PC". Click More info → Run anyway. The installer is built by GitHub Actions directly from this repository's source code.
Dirwise v1.6.0
Dirwise 1.6.0
Finder-Win is now Dirwise. Same app, new name — the previous one pointed to a third-party product. Your settings, Quick access, tags and tabs are kept.
Important
Upgrading from Finder-Win 1.5.x: just run Dirwise_1.6.0_x64-setup.exe. It silently removes the old Finder-Win installation first (no second copy side by side, the Start menu and desktop shortcuts are replaced) and keeps your settings. If you had Finder-Win pinned to the taskbar, pin Dirwise again.
✨ New
- Windows 11 window buttons – Minimize, Maximize / Restore and Close on the right, with Snap Layouts when you hover Maximize; the app icon and name on the left.
- Blurred transparency (Acrylic) – More → Appearance → Transparency: Off / Blurred, in three strengths (now much more see-through). Native Windows 11 Acrylic on Windows 11 22H2 and later with Transparency effects on; text keeps WCAG AA contrast over light, dark and colourful wallpapers. When the window loses focus it turns solid, like other Windows windows.
- File extensions like File Explorer – shortcuts (.lnk, .url) never show one, other files follow Windows’ “Hide extensions for known file types”, or choose Always / Never in More → View → File Extensions (also in the command palette). Renaming (F2) keeps a hidden extension.
- More → View – Hidden Files (Ctrl+Shift+.) and File Extensions, like in File Explorer.
- Sidebar – Quick access (pinned folders) / This PC / Cloud / Drives (with the Recycle Bin) / Recent / Tags, headings in normal case; Pin to Quick Access in the context menu.
- Icons view – the selection highlights the whole tile, like in Windows 11.
- New amber folder icon in the style of Windows 11.
- Status bar – “1 of 52 selected · 120.7 GB free”.
- Toolbar fits narrow windows – the search field gets narrower, then turns into a search icon that expands on click.
- Quick Look is now Preview (Space).
Full changelog: v1.5.2...v1.6.0
Dirwise is also available in the Microsoft Store.

Finder-Win v1.5.2
Finder-Win 1.5.2
✨ New
- Recycle Bin in the sidebar (last row under Locations; the icon shows empty / full) – deleted items with Original Location, Date Deleted and Size (sortable), Restore, Delete Permanently and Empty Recycle Bin (both with confirmation). Restore never overwrites an existing item. Also in the command palette (“Recycle Bin”, “Empty Recycle Bin”).
- Continue as Administrator – deleting, moving, copying/pasting, renaming, duplicating and creating folders in protected places (e.g. the root of C:) now offers “Continue as Administrator” and Windows asks for confirmation (UAC), like File Explorer. The app itself does not run as administrator. Operations done as administrator are not added to Undo.
- Shift+Delete deletes permanently (with confirmation).
- Clearer error messages – each failed item is named with the reason (permission denied, used by another app, doesn't exist, disk full, read-only …); unknown errors show the technical detail under Details.
🐛 Fixed
- Deleting in protected places failed with a bare “Some operations were aborted”.
Full changelog: v1.5.1...v1.5.2
Finder-Win is now also available in the Microsoft Store.

Finder-Win v1.5.1
Finder-Win 1.5.1
🐛 Fixed
- Transparency: files scrolled under the top bar and the status bar showed through almost sharp and mixed with the buttons. With Transparency on, content no longer shows under the bars – the desktop behind the window still does. With Transparency off nothing changes: the glass look still blurs the list under the bar.

Finder-Win v1.5.0
Finder-Win 1.5.0
✨ New
- New default look: glass – the title bar, toolbar and tabs sit on one translucent, blurred plate and the list shows through it as you scroll. The status bar, menus, context menus, the command palette, tooltips and toasts are glass too; dialogs blur what is behind them. The sidebar reaches under the window buttons, with a soft gradient and a grey selection; blue is kept for selected files.
- Window transparency – More → Appearance → Transparency: On / Off (default Off) and Transparency strength: Subtle / Medium / Strong (default Medium). The whole window becomes transparent – sidebar, list, top bar and status bar – so the desktop and other windows show through. Content scrolling under the top bar stays blurred. Also in the command palette (Ctrl+K).
🔧 Changed
- Smoother scrolling in long lists.
- Readability – text contrast meets WCAG AA over white, green and busy wallpapers at every transparency strength.
- The 1.4.2 look can no longer be switched on.
🐛 Fixed
- The app stopped responding after pressing the
Altkey on its own (orF10). - The colour tag palette in the context menu was too narrow; submenus are wider.

✨ New
- Drag files out of Finder-Win – to File Explorer, the desktop, a browser upload, Discord or an e-mail. Copy by default,
Shiftmoves. Drag & drop now works both ways. - + New button in the toolbar, like File Explorer – Folder, Text Document and every file type Windows offers in its New menu (Word, Excel, ZIP …). Also in the context menu (New ▸) and the command palette (Ctrl+K).
- Rounded tabs – each tab is a rounded chip; the active one is clearly highlighted.
- Terminals – More → Terminal lists PowerShell 7 and Windows PowerShell separately; unavailable ones are greyed out.
Shift+click Open in Terminal to pick any installed terminal.
🔧 Changed
- New items that collide get “(2)” like in File Explorer, e.g. “New folder (2)”.
