Consider JIMFS alternatives in the future #311
Description
JIMFS does not seem to currently have active development ongoing. Since JDK21 comes out later this year, it may be worth looking for alternative in-memory file system implementations that are compatible with the Java NIO file system API, if any exist. That way, if any issues arise with Java 21 compatibility, we do not have a blocker on the platforms that this library supports.
As part of supporting this, I want to add the ability to provide a custom implementation via a SPI.
