Release notes, new features for v3.1.1

ASU Divi v3.1.1 has arrived

The v3.1.1 release of the ASU Divi theme makes some pretty big changes under the hood for performance and compliance with the ASU Brand Standards.

• The site header now uses the component-header package from the Unity project instead of the Bootstrap 4 markup and styles.
• The site footer now also incorporates the component-footer package from the Unity project for the majority of the content in that section.
• The bootstrap4-theme package from the Unity Design kit is no longer loaded. This was a really large file that was only used to style the header and footer according to the Unity Design System specs. Any elements within the content of the page that need to confirm to UDS standards need to continue to supply their own CSS markup for that purpose.

New feature: CTA menu buttons

The implementation of the component-header also makes it possible to add call-to-action (CTA) buttons to various places within the menu system.

• The implementation of this feature works exactly the same way as it does in the Pitchfork theme. The UI is a little different in places, but the basics are the same.

• CTA buttons within the main navigation can be any of the given colors (black, gold, grey).
• CTA buttons placed within columns of a menu or mega menu will always be black, per the design standard.

Adjustments needed when updating

When applying a theme update from a 3.0.x version of the theme to v3.1.1, there is one adjustment to the theme settings that users will need to make immediately. That update has to do with the social media icons found within the global footer of the site.

• The interface for selecting a social media icon has been improved.
• Users no longer need to know or remember the font awesome icon markup to correctly build an icon in this section.
• Instead, each item within the menu now has a select box that has the approved icons within.
• Once the theme is updated on your site, you will need to manually assign each menu item to it's appropriate icon.
• Until this selection is made, your icons will look like they belong in Super Mario Bros. ❓ 😁
