Description
Describe the feature
Hello AWS SDK for Kotlin team,
I'm currently working on a Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) project and would like to fully utilize the AWS SDK for Kotlin in my application. However, I noticed that the SDK currently only supports the Android platform and is not available for iOS.
I understand that adding iOS support might require additional work to integrate with native iOS SDKs or underlying technologies like Kotlin/Native, but I believe this would be a huge benefit to the developer community.
Questions
- Are there any plans to add iOS support in the near future?
- If not, could you share any possible workarounds or guidance for using AWS services on iOS in a KMP project?
Thank you for all the work you’ve done so far on this SDK! I’m looking forward to seeing its future development.
Best regards,
Jeremias Marques, Software Engineer, from Brazil 🇧🇷
Is your feature request related to a problem?
Why iOS support would be valuable
- Enhanced cross-platform development: It would allow developers to write AWS service integrations once in the
commonMainmodule and reuse it across Android and iOS. - Consistency across platforms: Supporting iOS alongside Android would provide a seamless experience for developers working on multiplatform projects.
