Thanks for the contribution and sorry for the slow review, haven't had time to check into this repo as of late.

I'd very much prefer that we use the new automation for releases - https://github.com/backstage/mkdocs-techdocs-core?tab=readme-ov-file#release. Sadly I had issues with the when I tried 3 weeks ago: https://github.com/backstage/mkdocs-techdocs-core/actions/runs/17110783786. I've since got details as to how we could fix it but have not had the time to run with that yet.
