Auto-Answer after delay

Hi,

is there an option to automatically answer a call after a certain delay (not immediately)? I'm able to configure baresip to answer a call immediately, but that's not exactly what I want it to do.

I fiddled around with

answermode=auto (and other modes)

and

answerdelay=1000

What I want is for incoming calls: let it ring let's say five times and then accept the call automatically and do some irrelevant stuff for this question. Is this possible?

Currently my TODOs are:

• Regarding your question: It menu.c case BEVENT_CALL_INCOMING of the event_handler it seems that sip_autoanswer has higher prio than answerdelay and it is enabled by default. What means that a normal SIP INVITE with no special auto answer header will suppress the answerdelay. This is a bug.
• The beep tone should be played after answerdelay elapsed, not before and then start ringing.
• Not directly related. A timer should never get a pointer to a call object as argument, because the call may terminate before the timer elapse. -> potential use after free
• Update and clarify the Wiki.

Now SIP auto answer (from SIP header) and account answerdelay work together and the minimum delay wins.
Do not specify answermode=auto! It overrules all other.

Thank you very much for your explanations, coding and instructions! This sounds promising. Unfortunately, I do not have a proper build environment set up and might have to wait until your changes made it to a release and this release to the package builder environment of the operating system I use. If I find some time, I will try to set up a build env for testing ...

• The description of the PR menu: delayed answer fixes #3687 lists the relevant changes.
• Note, you need to load module menu! It implements the delayed answer. I added this information to the wiki.

I managed to test 4.8.0 now - unfortunately I can not report different / improved behavior.

What I want to achieve is that baresip auto-answers a call after waiting for some seconds - all by its own without user-interaction.

Again, I fiddled around with answerdelay and answermode in accounts-config, also as mentioned avoided answermode=auto when using answerdelay. With answerdelay set to 2000 (should be 2 seconds according to documentation), the call terminates after a timeout of 30s without baresip taking the call automatically after 2 seconds. With answermode set to auto, baresip immediately answers the call.

Have I missed something? Or could you look again into this use-case, please?

Edit: menu-module is loaded in config-config with module_app menu.so, ring_aufile set to none.

Edit: Note that "auto-answers a call after waiting for some seconds" means: it should ring/beep for some seconds on caller side and then baresip should auto-answer.

• Please could you do some debugging? e.g. try command callstat while the call is ringing!
• Try without ring_aufile none, or comment it out!
• Is the right UA selected for the incoming call?
• How your accounts file looks? (Delete the credential if you paste them here!)

Dumb me had answer_delay instead of answerdelay (had it right initially, but wrong in these latest tests). With this option /callstat shows

 autoanswer delay: 2000

but it still does not auto-answer after 2000 milliseconds.

/uastat shows

 answerdelay:      2000
 answermode:       manual

Start baresip with option -v. Then look for the log entry %H: selected for %r!

• How your account line looks like?
• How the 'selected for' log entry?
• Did you load modules menu.so and account.so?
