I have several quads, all of them equipped with M10 GPS (Foxeer M10 250). Both in 4.4 and 4.5 they can reach up to over 20 satellites, but DOP is much much worse in 4.5 compared to 4.4 (with exact same configuration and within minutes from one flight to the other).
For instance:
- BF 4.4: I can easily get 8-10 sats in few seconds from a cold start and have a DOP of around 1.0 (enough to arm safely). In flight the number of sats goes up to 25 with a DOP of about 0.5-0.6;
- BF 4.5 (all RC): I still get 8-10 sats in few seconds, but DOP is now 3-5 (not safe to arm with this home point). In flight the number of sats reaches up to 20-23 max (not 25, but ok), but DOP is now "only" 1.2-1.4, worse than BF 4.4 with just 10 sats.
In both cases GPS configured as follow (Italy based):
- Baud rate 57.600 as specified in the GPS Rescue guide
- set gps_sbas_mode = EGNOS
- set gps_ublox_use_galileo = ON
- set gps_set_home_point_once = ON
Hardware used:
- Radix2 + Foxeer M10 250
- Kakute H7 + Foxeer M10 250
- Argus Pro + Foxeer M10 250
I post a couple of screenshots from my DVRs just to show what I mean. They're not taken from two consequent flights though.
Describe the solution you'd like
DOP to be consistent between 4.4 and 4.5, being about 0.5 with >20 sats.
