Lucid 0.3.5
Pre-release
Pre-release
Video super-resolution for Apple silicon.
Requires Apple silicon and macOS 26.
Since 0.3.0
- Works on any site, not just the ones it was tuned on. Every setting used to mean something different depending on how much the video was being stretched — the same numbers were roughly twice as strong on a YouTube 240p player as on the test clip, which is why it looked over-processed there. Gains are now normalised by the upscale factor, and the sharpening lobe is pinned to a fixed pixel spacing.
- Deblocking sets its own strength from the picture. Compression leaves steps on the transform grid that are not there off it, so the frame itself says how damaged a stream is. No knob, no per-site setting.
- A control panel that stays open. Click the aperture in the menu bar: on/off, four quality settings, and adjustments and stages when you want them. Everything applies on the next frame.
- 144p is covered. It was being rejected for being small, which was backwards.
- Draws through an extension-origin iframe, so sites whose security policy blocks a loopback connection are handled by the same path as everything else rather than a separate overlay.
- Menu bar only, no Dock icon — a Dock icon makes it a regular app, and activating one throws you out of a full-screen video.
Installing
- Open the disk image and drag Lucid to Applications.
- Not notarised, so clear the quarantine flag once:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Lucid.app - Open Lucid and grant Screen Recording.
- Load the companion:
chrome://extensions→ Developer mode → Load unpacked → theBrowserExtensionfolder from a checkout.
Known limits
- DRM video is impossible; the frames never reach the page.
- One video at a time, top frame only.
- The loopback bridge is not authenticated.
- Performance measured only on an M4 Pro.
