DevCatz 1.0.4 brings Typesense, Sonic and Sockudo to Windows through DoCatz, and fixes two things that could leave the window stuck.

Windows: Typesense, Sonic and Sockudo in DoCatz

These three publish no Windows build. On Windows, their pages (Search → Typesense / Sonic, WebSocket → Sockudo) now offer Install in DoCatz….

  • They run from their official images in DoCatz's container engine (WSL 2).
  • DevCatz stays in control: port, domain, keys, the .env lines for your sites, start / stop, updates and uninstall all work as on the Mac.
  • DoCatz shows their containers under DevCatz Services, and Open in DoCatz takes you there.
  • If DoCatz is not installed, the page offers to download and install it first.

Fixes

  • Database → Import… no longer freezes the window: clicks on the dialog reach it again (they were taken by the window's drag area).
  • Install in DoCatz no longer hangs when DoCatz's engine cannot run. If the engine was never set up on the PC (it needs WSL 2), DevCatz opens DoCatz and says so straight away. If the engine is installed but still starting, you can cancel the wait (Typesense, Sonic, Sockudo and the Docker gateways).

Updated build (3 November)

  • Windows wording: pages that mention DoCatz now name its DevCatz Services group, where DoCatz lists the containers DevCatz runs there. They no longer mention a Gateways page.
  • Windows wording: five Settings texts no longer say "Mac". They now say "this PC", and the Object Storage folder hints show %APPDATA%\DevCatz\storage\….

Install: download below, from catzoid.com/devcatz/download, or with Homebrew: brew tap catzoidhub/catz && brew trust catzoidhub/catz && brew install --cask devcatz. DevCatz 1.0.3 updates itself.

The Windows installer is not code-signed. It is a stable release, built by GitHub Actions from the public source, but Windows SmartScreen warns when you open it: choose More info → Run anyway. Free signing from the SignPath Foundation needs a project that more people use and talk about. A ⭐ on this repository, issues, pull requests and write-ups all help DevCatz get there (code signing policy).

Apple silicon and Intel, macOS 13 or later; signed and notarized by Apple, and the app updates itself. Windows 10 / 11 x64: DevCatz-Setup-1.0.4.exe (not code-signed, see above), updates itself as well.
