A Generic System Image (GSI) is a system image built to boot on any device that supports Project Treble, regardless of the manufacturer.
- Treble splits Android into the system partition (the OS framework) and the vendor partition (device-specific drivers and HALs). A GSI replaces only the system partition and keeps the vendor, kernel and firmware already on your device.
Please keep your device's vendor and firmware updated with its latest release available.
- The same image runs on devices from different manufacturers, as long as their vendor implementation follows Treble.
- Hardware support depends on the vendor partition. A feature that works on one device can be broken on another, and some vendor bugs cannot be fixed from the GSI side.
RestlessOS is a GSI built on GrapheneOS with TrebleDroid patches for device compatibility. It is not an unmodified AOSP image.
RestLessOS. "ROS" is commonly used for RisingOS, so RLOS is the short name for RestlessOS.
Also because our "L" character in our logo is quite big, so why not?
