Prerequisites
Read the whole guide before running any command. There is no universal installation method, each device can need slightly different steps.
Your bootloader must be unlocked. Unlocking is device-specific and not covered here.
Check your device with Treble Info. It must report:
| Check | Required |
|---|---|
| Project Treble | Supported |
| CPU architecture | ARM64 |
| Binder | 64-bit |
| Dynamic partitions | Yes |
| System-as-root | Yes |
| Manifest location | Modern |
| VNDK version | Minimum 29 (Android 10+ vendor) Recommended 31+ (Android 12+ vendor) or newer |
| VNDK Lite | No |
Both A-only and A/B devices are supported. If any other requirement is not met, RestlessOS will most likely not boot on your device.
A newer device with still vendor and firmware updates will be always recommended.
DSU Sideloader boots a GSI temporarily without touching your partitions. If it fails, your current ROM stays as it is.
DSU is only for checking if your device can boot RestlessOS. Bug reports and logs from DSU are not accepted, see Reporting issues and logs.
You need the vbmeta.img from the stock firmware currently installed on your device. Find your build/baseband version in Settings > About phone, download the matching firmware and extract vbmeta.img from it.
It has to be patched to disable verification before RestlessOS can boot, see Patching vbmeta.
Back up your current partitions before flashing: Backing up your device.
Get the image from Downloads.
