I'd also be fine with trying something new (I've built a web app with HTML/CSS/Javascript, Python (Flask), and MySQL and would be up for doing it again, or trying out Node/Angular)

I'm also willing to give anything 'new' a try. New for me would be Rails or Node/Angular.

I'm familiar with Python, although I've never used it for web dev. I'd like to learn something like Flask if we take it that direction.
I like the MEAN stack (MongoDB, Express, Angular.js, Node.js). It is very powerful, and I know some tools that could auto-generate the server and client framework, with some basic code. Downside: it takes some time to get used to.

I would like to avoid php. Python is good but I'm not that experienced in it.
