VPN Connection Delay Using This Library

I'm experiencing a significant delay when connecting to my server using this library — it takes about two minutes to establish a connection. However, when I use the same VPN server with the OpenVPN Connect app, the connection is established in less than 3 seconds, so the issue does not appear to be with the VPN server itself.

Is this delay expected behavior when using this library? Or is there a known issue or configuration that might be causing the slowdown?

You can test with ics-openvpn; the Android version of this module is based on ics-openvpn 0.7.33.

Moreover, when I use it myself, the connection is established in about a few seconds.

Okay, I don't think I can come up with a suitable solution either, sorry. After all, this module is just a layer of encapsulation for OpenVPN.
