What does mean "medium file" for a COG

In the COG section, there are the following lines:

If you plan to pan and zoom a large amount of data through a tiling service in a web browser, 
there is a tradeoff between 1 large file, or many smaller files. The current recommendation 
is to meet somewhere in the middle, a moderate amount of medium files.

But what does "medium" mean? 500mb, 1gb, 10gb? It's unclear to me.

I agree it's not clear, and sadly the response will be a bit subjective.

usually I tend to think of 1 large file being in the 100's Gb side. But it all goes down to the structure of the file itself (blocksize, number of band, interleave type).
