Tease 0.5.4

Choose a tag to compare

@cmccomb cmccomb released this 24 Oct 22:48
e9cd443

Tease 0.5.4 makes the rustdoc landing page interactive. Drag the Offset slider to reshape a response curve, switch between line, scatter, and bar plots, and see the numeric result update. The focused API previews remain beside the relevant types and methods; the complete demo stays collapsed until requested.

The browser preview uses Tease-rendered controls and results with a local JavaScript version of the analytical example model. The packaged desktop example runs the Rust callback on a worker thread.

There are no public API or runtime behavior changes. See the changelog and interactive documentation.

Tease 0.5.3

@cmccomb cmccomb released this 24 Oct 16:17
6b648a5

Tease 0.5.3 makes the interactive documentation easier to explore.

  • Added focused live previews beside the slider, dropdown, and probability APIs.
  • Collapsed the full rustdoc demo so it opens when requested.
  • No API or runtime behavior changes.

The browser previews use Tease-rendered controls and results with an analytical example model running locally in JavaScript. The packaged preview example runs its Rust callback in a desktop window.

Tease 0.5.2

Tease 0.5.2

This release adds a runnable widget preview and makes the crate page easier to scan. The README now leads with installation, shows a linked interface preview, and points to the interactive browser demo. The crate Homepage metadata also opens that demo.

The API documentation includes the interactive preview in its own rustdoc section. The browser page runs the analytical example model locally; the desktop example runs the Rust callback on a worker thread.

  • Added the preview example with number, slider, dropdown, plot, and class-score widgets.
  • Added response and image widget screenshots and an example gallery.
  • Improved probability-plot axis labels.
  • Added browser preview tests and package checks.

No public API changes. See CHANGELOG.md for the release history.

Tease 0.5.1 — documentation refresh

Choose a tag to compare

@cmccomb cmccomb released this 22 Oct 15:03

Tease 0.5.1 is a documentation patch. It shortens the crates.io README, adds version, documentation, CI, and license badges, and moves detailed feature behavior and limits into a packaged guide. The lockfile also replaces a yanked transitive dependency entry.

There are no Tease API or runtime behavior changes.

The six-job CI matrix covers builds, tests, linting, documentation, and packaged consumers on macOS, Windows, and Linux. Manual native Windows and Linux GUI smoke checks remain tracked in #7.

Tease 0.5.0 — live prediction

Choose a tag to compare

@cmccomb cmccomb released this 19 Sep 21:32

Tease 0.5.0 is part of the staged update to responsive Rust model demos.

  • Opt-in debounced live prediction with editable inputs during inference.
  • One running request and one replaceable pending snapshot.
  • Revision checks discard results for superseded inputs; pause clears queued work.
  • IME composition/file-read handling, a delayed live example, and lifecycle tests.

Install with cargo add tease@0.5.0. Rust 1.88 or newer and the platform desktop dependencies in the README are required.

Validation: Rust tests, doctests, JavaScript lifecycle tests, strict lint/docs checks, and an isolated packaged-crate consumer. Native macOS interactions were exercised; interactive Windows/Linux GUI behavior has not been manually verified. The CI results linked to this release record native build/test coverage separately.

Cross-platform CI: stable and Rust 1.88 on macOS, Windows, and Linux.

Tease 0.4.0 — images and batch data

Choose a tag to compare

@cmccomb cmccomb released this 19 Sep 21:30

Tease 0.4.0 is part of the staged update to responsive Rust model demos.

  • Validated local PNG/JPEG inputs, previews, and image outputs.
  • CSV import previews, read-only result tables, and complete CSV export.
  • Sequential batch prediction with row-level results and errors.
  • Image-processing and CSV batch examples with file/format regression tests.

Install with cargo add tease@0.4.0.

Tease 0.3.0 — visual exploration

Choose a tag to compare

@cmccomb cmccomb released this 19 Sep 21:30

Tease 0.3.0 is part of the staged update to responsive Rust model demos.

  • Local line/scatter/bar plots and validated model-score/probability bars.
  • Text areas, checkboxes, multi-selects, units, and help text.
  • Validated named presets and session-local scenario comparisons.
  • Analytical response example and rendering/control regression tests.

Install with cargo add tease@0.3.0.

Tease 0.2.0 — dependable model demos

Choose a tag to compare

@cmccomb cmccomb released this 19 Sep 21:29

Tease 0.2.0 is part of the staged update to responsive Rust model demos.

Added

  • Dedicated inference worker, model initialization status, bounded single-request
    execution, matching request IDs, and prompt window closure during inference.
  • with_predictor_factory for constructing models that are not Send on their
    owning worker, plus prepare() and reusable headless Sessions.
  • Typed numerical/text values, labeled choices, multiple named outputs, and
    fallible callbacks through one validated prediction path.
  • Configuration, field, and output validation with recoverable errors and
    plain-text rendering throughout the interface.
  • Real SmartCore regression/classification and AutoML regression examples,
    checked sample predictions, and slow-inference/error-recovery demonstrations.
  • Stable/MSRV CI across macOS, Windows, and Linux, Rust and JavaScript lifecycle
    regression tests, and a clean-consumer package verification script.
  • MIT and Apache-2.0 license texts, migration guidance, and a release checklist.

Changed

  • Rust 1.88 is the development baseline. Wry is updated to 0.57 and window/event
    handling now uses Tao 0.37. Repository dependency resolution uses Cargo.lock.
  • Model examples use published AutoML 0.3.1 and matching SmartCore 0.4.2.
  • The interface uses a small local stylesheet and script; bundled Bootstrap,
    jQuery, and Popper are removed from the runtime.
  • run() returns setup errors; model failures appear in the UI. The window uses
    a readable default size and adapts to narrow layouts.

Breaking changes

  • Direct callback captures must be Send. Non-Send models use a worker-side factory.
  • Input number definitions gain optional bounds; dropdowns use labeled Choices.
  • Output number definitions include precision, and text results are supported.
  • Descriptions are plain text rather than HTML.
  • The unpublished generic floating-point and unused advanced-callback APIs are
    replaced. Numeric interface values use f64, consistent with published 0.1.1.
  • Earlier unpublished 0.2 drafts used Teaser::predict; prepare a Session first.

See docs/migration-0.2.md for code examples and the panic/closure semantics.
