NHSN coming sometimes November, the email confirming from CDC confirmed being live starting on 11/20
We have an update on the NHSN data that will be coming out shortly. As you may know, the first release of updated state and territory aggregated data, including COVID19, influenza, and RSV data reported to NHSN under the new CMS reporting requirements will be this Friday November 15. Please plan on taking a look at the data then on data.cdc.gov (full link forthcoming). Once the data are available, there will also be more information included in the description and footnotes that will likely be helpful for you as you are working with the data. In the meantime, please also find attached a metadata table with field names and descriptions for the metrics that will be included in this new dataset, which may be helpful for your preparations. In particular, we want to highlight that there will be new fields which identify the number and percent of reporting hospitals for each metric. Please keep this in mind while you are building your forecasts.
In one week we are scheduled to have the first week of forecast submissions on 11/20/2024. Starting on that date there will be separate, preliminary public releases of the NHSN data, also on data.cdc.gov. The release of this data is planned to happen by noon ET. If you pull the target data directly from the FluSight Github, you should not have to update your code to refer to a new field name, since we will be naming the target data as it was named last season. We will update the target data folder as soon as we are able to after the release of the data on Wednesday.

Note: if you are planning to submit a new model for the 2024-2025 season, please submit a corresponding metadata file as soon as possible. This will allow us to begin the initial validations process so that your submission file can begin validations as soon as it is submitted next week. Please also note that we are requiring a team URL for submissions this season. Generally, it would be a good idea to plan on submitting an updated metadata file as soon as you are able.
