WCH Touch Driver 1.4.2

DisplayLink brightness restoration now becomes eligible 0.5 seconds after WCH detects the monitor, down from 3 seconds. The existing quarter-second timer starts the write without waiting for the next native brightness poll.

Display identity validation, acknowledgement checks, and bounded retries remain in place. DisplayLink discovery and monitor startup still contribute to the total reconnect time.

Regression coverage includes rapid disconnects, early vendor errors, stale acknowledgements, retry exhaustion, and independent brightness targets.

Validated by 164 Swift tests and 218 standalone regression checks. A physical reconnect test restored both monitor profiles, brightness levels, portrait layout, and nine windows, with both touch controllers active.

WCH Touch Driver 1.4.1

DisplayLink monitors now restore their saved WCH brightness after reconnecting, waking, or starting the driver. Restoration waits for the connection to settle and retries up to four times if DisplayLink does not acknowledge the setting.

Brightness status clears acknowledgements from earlier connections and reports restoration failures without discarding the saved level. Native brightness restoration is unchanged.

DisplayLink cannot read brightness changes made with a monitor’s physical buttons. Those adjustments work while connected; the next reconnect restores the level last saved by WCH.

WCH Touch Driver 1.4.0

Adds WCH → Monitor Profiles… for mixed monitor models and connections.

• Selects touch pairing, brightness connection, and following behavior separately for each monitor.
• Prefers native DDC/CI automatically and uses DisplayLink only when a selected screen needs it and Manager is running.

• Follows MacBook brightness changes or remembers independent monitor levels.
• Restores supported native Apple Silicon panels with hardware readback and bounded retries.
• Remembers readable physical-button adjustments on native panels.
• Controls compatible DisplayLink screens through Manager 17 and starts both connection paths promptly.

DisplayLink reports cached brightness, so physical-button changes cannot be read live. Those screens retain their own brightness on reconnect; automatic following resumes with the next MacBook brightness change.

• Protects the saved arrangement for 60 seconds after WCH starts and at least 30 seconds after reconnect or wake.
• Restores late changes to external display positions, rotation, and scaling during that settling period.
• Waits for missing windows to remain absent for 60 seconds before learning a smaller desktop snapshot.
• Adds live screen geometry and capture-protection details to Desktop Layout Status.

Save Current Desktop Layout accepts an intentional arrangement immediately. Existing settings and touch pairings are preserved.
