DepTime 0.1.5
What's changed in the client since 0.1.4
Improvements to the index itself (deprecations, replacement hints, curated migration hints) reach every installed version through the nightly index. The changes below are in the package and need 0.1.5.
Reading tracebacks
- Chained exceptions (
During handling of the above exception...),ExceptionGroupsub-exceptions and lazy-loader messages are read (DT-CORE-25). On a pre-registered holdout of 736 real tracebacks, the error's kind and package are right for 93.8%. - A removed submodule is reported as
module_removed, and Python 3.9's__init__() got an unexpected keyword argument, which names no class, takes the class from the call (DT-CORE-26). - A pasted
cannot import name 'X'that lost its module is read from the frame's import line.
Answers
- A name added between two indexed releases says so, with the new
last_version_withoutandfirst_version_withfields (DT-CORE-18). - When an error's owner is in another package, the packages the raising code requires are searched first, and lookups are faster: p95 from 25.5 ms to 3.5 ms (DT-CORE-16, DT-DATA-14).
- A replacement named by the error message itself is looked up as the index's hints are:
np./pd.expanded,.memberread as a member of the same class (DT-CORE-12, DT-CORE-23). - Text taken from library source is cleaned before it reaches an answer (DT-CORE-08).
Index download
- A failed first download is retried with backoff, and a query made without an index says why (DT-OSS-10).

DepTime 0.1.3
Clearer tool definitions for agents. Answers are unchanged.
- Every tool parameter now has a description:
packageandsymbolsoncheck_symbols;package,used_symbols,include_addedandlimitondiff_versions. - Each tool says when to use it rather than its siblings. For example,
check_symbolspreflights code against the installed version,symbol_historycovers one symbol across releases, andcoverageis the first call when you're unsure a package is covered. - The descriptions state what an unknown path returns (
ever_seen=false, not an error) and what an error DepTime can't explain returns (empty findings, withnoteandnot_covered). - From this version on, every version tag gets a GitHub release automatically.

DepTime 0.1.2
DepTime is now listed on the official MCP Registry as io.github.cschmertz/deptime, and on Glama. The release workflow now publishes to the registry after PyPI. The server's behaviour is unchanged from 0.1.0.
The index ships separately and is refreshed nightly, so index improvements reach existing installs without a new release.

DepTime 0.1.1
Documentation only: the PyPI page now shows the current README, with absolute GitHub links and the how-it-works diagram. The server's behaviour is unchanged from 0.1.0.
DepTime 0.1.0
First public release.
uvx deptime mcpruns a local MCP server over stdio with five tools:explain_error,check_symbols,symbol_history,diff_versionsandcoverage.- Answers come from a prebuilt index of static API snapshots. They're deterministic, carry evidence and a confidence level, and no LLM is called at answer time.
- The index is built nightly in GitHub Actions and published as the rolling
indexpre-release. The server downloads it on first run and verifies its sha256 and schema. - The repo doubles as a Claude Code plugin marketplace (an MCP config, a skill and a hook).
