Device Compatibility and Limitations

Device compatibility and limitations

This is a focused implementation for selected Zigbee clusters and device models. Pairing success does not imply full support for every feature of a device. Check the repository's compatibility matrix and dated hardware validation for the latest evidence.

Supported SONOFF models

Model Current project support Evidence notes
SNZB-02WD Temperature and humidity reporting/setup Recurring reports observed; historical long reporting gaps have been recorded and their cause is unknown.
SNZB-02LD Temperature reporting/setup Temperature-only device; humidity is not expected. Recurring reports observed, with gaps recorded.
SNZB-02UL Temperature/humidity, battery and selected E-Ink display settings Core reporting verified on a physical unit; consult its guide for display and longer-term/restart checks still outstanding.
S60ZBTPG Relay control, reporting, metering and selected plug-specific settings Three Type G plugs identified; physical switch and remote operation verified on one unit. See the dated hardware record for the scope and remaining checks.

The product names above identify project adapters and test evidence; they do not promise every feature or firmware revision from the manufacturer is supported.

Implemented general Zigbee functions

  • Coordinator network formation/restoration and time-limited joining.
  • Endpoint and cluster discovery.
  • Standard temperature/humidity reads and reports, supported reporting configuration, and selected power/configuration attributes.
  • Explicit standard On/Off commands for identified supported devices.
  • Persistent SBC history, device inventory and dashboard configuration.

Not currently a general capability

The project is not a universal driver database. IAS contact/motion enrolment, arbitrary manufacturer-specific writes, Tuya datapoints, general MQTT integration, automation rules, Zigbee OTA and secure Zigbee network backup/restore are not implemented as broad product features. Support for selected vendor settings does not imply support for all devices using that manufacturer.

The S60ZBTPG's plug, electrical and setting support is model-specific. Full power-cycle/OTA acceptance and mesh-path visibility remain outside the verified scope documented in the repository. A 20–50 device network has not been load-tested.

Reporting gaps

Sensor reports are device-initiated and may be affected by device sleep, radio conditions, power, interference or other causes; the cause must be investigated rather than guessed. The SNZB-02WD and SNZB-02LD have observed longer gaps despite recurring reports. These gaps are documented in issue #10 and the related validation record; they are not evidence that every report interval is met continuously.
