NotchApp 1.8.0
Chat, and Caps Lock as a Hyper key
- Chat: keep talking about any Search answer (⌘↩), or start a new chat with its shortcut. Follow-ups search the web, your files, calendar, notes, weather or Recall when they need to, and earlier chats are kept on this Mac.
- Caps Lock as Hyper (Settings): hold it for ⌃⌥⇧⌘, here and in every other app.
- Search: "what's new in macOS" searches the web; "this weekend" shows Saturday's forecast; "tomorrow afternoon" shows just the afternoon; finding files keeps month names ("the invoice from March").
- Teleprompter: following your voice no longer trails a word behind.
- Fixes: shortcut recording no longer picks up keys typed in other apps; cards no longer stay hovered after the notch closes; deleted pictures leave picture search.
NotchApp 1.7.1
Clean Keyboard, and no more corespeechd mic alerts
- Clean Keyboard (Controls): the keyboard turns off for a minute so you can wipe it. Click the tile or the Banner to end it early.
- Mic & camera alerts no longer flag macOS's own speech service (corespeechd) or other built-in helpers.
NotchApp 1.7.0
Agents report to the notch: notch run, live Claude Code activity and an MCP server
- notch command:
notch run <cmd>shows a ring beside the notch and a Banner with the exit code when it ends (click it to go back to that terminal). Alsonotch banner, progress, shelfandask. Install it from Settings › Agents. - Live activity from Claude Code (Settings › Agents): read-only hooks show what each session is doing and its subagents, and a Banner says what it edited when a turn ends. They never answer anything for you.
- MCP server (
notch mcp): agents can show progress and Banners, put files on the Shelf, and ask you quick choices. Permission questions stay in the terminal. - Search can use Claude Code or Codex with your own plan.
- Tips that show up when they'd help, and a What's new note after each update.
NotchApp 1.6.1
Fixes a crash when headphones connect
Sound alerts could quit NotchApp while macOS was switching to your headphones' microphone. They now wait for it to settle.
NotchApp 1.6.0
Cleaner Home tiles, hourly weather and a centered player
Home's cards lose their boxes for dividers and one type scale. Weather shows the next hours and calls out rain, UV or wind, and appears instantly after launch. Music centers in a tall tile. Stats gets a wider card with power, temperature and the busiest app, and the Stats page's collapsed tiles are larger.
NotchApp 1.5.0
Make Home yours: add, arrange and size cards right in the notch
- Edit Home in place: right-click Home → Edit Home…, then drag cards along, change their size, take them off, or add more from a gallery.
- New Settings › Home page with a live preview of your Home. It takes over the Media & Sound and Calendar & Meetings pages; the Sound tab's settings are now under Volume & Brightness.
- 12 new cards: Stats, Batteries, World Clock, Agents, Shelf, Timer, Clipboard, Unread, Scratchpad, Network, Countdown, and a small Weather tile.
- Cards fit themselves: extras shrink and music becomes a tile before anything has to wait for room. Music still takes half of Home while it plays (Bigger while playing).
- Fixed: a birthday or a call bar no longer pushes the weather out of the notch, and birthdays aren't listed twice.
NotchApp 1.4.0
Window keys, Recall, and a proper meeting recorder
- Window keys: ⌃⌥ arrows snap the window in front (press again for the next display, or ⅔ then ⅓), ⌃⌥↩ maximizes, ⌃⌥⌫ restores, ⌃⌥⌘ arrows move between displays. Thirds and quarters can be given keys too.
- Recall (off until you turn it on in Settings → Search): an on-device memory of what was on screen, found from Search.
- Meetings: calls are recorded as audio after you say yes, transcribed again when they end, and play back from any line. The other side's voices are told apart and named.
- Shelf: hold ⌘ while dragging out to move the original, shake a file mid-drag for a tray at the pointer, and drag several files out as one zip.
- Agents: real logos, Claude Code's 5-hour block, and permission questions that go straight to the right terminal pane.
- Homebrew updates show while they run.
NotchApp 1.3.0
Ask NotchApp about itself, and a glow around the search bar
- Search answers questions about NotchApp ("where's the hover delay", "what's new") with links straight into Settings
- The search bar glows in Apple Intelligence's colours, or a white shimmer, or nothing: Settings → Appearance → Search bar
- A new glass level, Airy, between Balanced and Clear
- Reply fields end in a Messages-style send button
- The notification mirror starts as soon as Accessibility is allowed, without reopening NotchApp
- Models without JSON mode work for every request; file searches are no longer mistaken for app instructions
- Security hardening for the updater, agent replies, video links and debug hooks
NotchApp 1.2.0
Faster conversions, more formats, and a choice of how to save
- Video converts on the Mac's media engine (falling back to the CPU by itself): far faster, and WebM can now be made in AV1
- More formats: MP4 in HEVC or AV1, ProRes, MKV; when the codec already fits, it's copied into the new file instead of re-encoded
- Converting asks how to save: a copy, a copy with the same name, or in place of the original
- A batch is one Glance: the ring fills across every file, the label counts files done (3/12), and the hover card shows what's running
- A batch's results no longer flood the clipboard, and what NotchApp copies for you stays out of Clipboard history
- Quitting during a conversion or download asks first; quitting anyway deletes half-written files
- Updates check without signing in, and the token field in About is gone
- Fixed a grey flicker in the progress Glance
NotchApp 1.1.0
Smoother pages: swipes and tab changes glide on one spring
- Pages and the tab pill slide on Core Animation: no blank or half-drawn pages mid-swipe, and the pill follows the swipe exactly
- Animation in Settings → Appearance: Smooth, Snappy or Bouncy, now for pages, panes and lists too; Reduce Motion turns slides into fades
- Panes in Shelf, Tasks, Tools and Agents switch with direction and a sliding underline
- ⌃Tab / ⌘⇧] and ⌃⇧Tab / ⌘⇧[ step through tabs, and tab buttons name their page
- Right-click a page to open its settings (Edit Controls…, Edit Shelf…)
- Search: smoother typing, apps you open rank higher, file matches always make the list, and ↑↓ stop at the ends
- Settings lists features in the notch's page order, and Tools' tabs no longer jump
- Copied hex colors show as swatches in Clipboard
