Tip
⬇️ Downloads: these are the only files you need
Easiest: devall96.github.io/Nettle picks the right one for your device.
- Windows: Nettle-win-Setup.exe (installer) · or Nettle-win-Portable.zip to run without installing
- Linux: Nettle.AppImage
- Android TV / Google TV: Nettle-AndroidTV.apk
Already on Windows or Linux? Settings → Updates → Check now installs this for you. On Android TV, install this one by hand (steps below); from now on the TV app updates itself the same way.
Everything else under Assets (.nupkg, .json, RELEASES) is read by the built-in updater: you can ignore it.
A hotfix that brings all three apps level with each other: the desktop apps get the Android TV app's Live TV features and a fixed window with real display modes, and the Android TV app gets the desktop's built-in updater. Windows, Linux and Android TV all share this version number.
📺 Android TV: updates itself now
- New: Settings → Updates, the same as on Windows and Linux. Check now looks at Nettle's GitHub Releases and offers the newest
Nettle-AndroidTV.apk; Download & install fetches it and opens the TV's install prompt. Your settings and sign-ins stay. - Check automatically when Nettle starts (off by default): one quiet check per launch, with a note when a new version is out.
- The first time, Android asks you to let Nettle install apps (Install unknown apps); Nettle takes you to that switch.
- Nettle still only connects to your own servers. GitHub is contacted only while you check for or install an update.
- Coming from 0.4.2: install this version by hand once (Downloader or adb, as before). It installs over 0.4.2 and keeps your settings.
🪟 The window, fixed and with real display modes
- Fixed: Nettle could open half off the screen, and then couldn't be moved or resized until you pressed F11 a few times.
- New: Settings → Appearance → Display mode, with three choices:
- Windowed: a normal window with the system's title bar and borders. Drag it, resize it from any edge, make it as small or as large as you like. Below 1280 × 720 the whole app scales down to fit instead of getting cut off.
- Borderless full screen: covers the monitor, easy to alt-tab out of.
- Exclusive full screen: stays on top, and on Windows the monitor's refresh rate follows the video (23.976 / 24 / 25 / 50 / 59.94 Hz…) so films don't judder, the same as the TV app. Your normal refresh rate comes back when you leave full screen, switch to another app, or close Nettle.
- F11 switches between windowed and the full-screen type you picked. Nettle opens in the mode you chose.
📺 Live TV, now the same as on the TV
- Tuning screen: every channel switch is covered with the channel's logo, number and what's on until the new picture is up, so letterboxed films never flash stretched.
- Channel logo with the format badges: the logo sits on top of the 4K · HDR10 · ATMOS badges and fades with them.
- Type a channel number with the number keys (top row or numpad). It tunes after a short pause, or straight away on Enter.
- Last channel: press R, or use the new button next to the channel arrows.
- Number keys on videos: 0–9 jump to 0–90 % of the way in.
- Live TV has its own icon on Windows and Linux too (an old TV set with rabbit ears), so it no longer looks like the TV Shows library.
🌊 Deep Sea is the new look
- New installs on Windows, Linux and Android TV start in the Deep Sea theme (cool blue). If you already picked a theme, nothing changes; all 16 themes are still in Settings → Appearance.
- The app icon follows: Windows, the Linux menu entry, the installer, the Android TV launcher and its home-screen banner are all Deep Sea now.
Install
- Windows: run
Nettle-win-Setup.exe. It installs for your user only, no admin rights needed. If Windows shows "Windows protected your PC" (Nettle isn't code-signed yet), click More info → Run anyway. - Linux: make
Nettle.AppImageexecutable (chmod +x Nettle.AppImage, or Properties → Allow executing as program) and double-click it. - Android TV: in Downloader, enter
https://github.com/devall96/Nettle/releases/latest/download/Nettle-AndroidTV.apk(full steps in the 0.4.2 notes).
Warning
Linux is still untested by hand in this release. The AppImage passes the automated tests on clean Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora and Arch machines. Exclusive full screen on Linux asks the compositor to step aside; it doesn't switch refresh rates there yet. A test report would really help.

Nettle 0.4.2 — now on Android TV
Nettle 0.4.2 — beta: now on Android TV 📺
A fast, beautiful Jellyfin client for Windows, Linux and now Android TV. Direct play only: Nettle never asks your server to transcode.
📺 Introducing Nettle for Android TV
Nettle now runs natively on Android TV and Google TV. It isn't the desktop window squeezed onto a TV: the whole app was rebuilt for the remote in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, with the same look, the same sixteen themes and the same features as the PC version.
Original quality on your TV
- Direct play of the original file, always, through Media3 and your box's hardware decoders. No transcoding, no remuxing, no server load.
- HDR10, HLG, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision go to the TV as they are. On TVs without Dolby Vision, profile 7 and 8 files play their HDR10 layer instead.
- Refresh-rate matching: the TV switches to 23.976 / 24 / 25 / 50 / 59.94 Hz to match each video, so films don't judder. It can match the resolution too.
- Audio passthrough sends Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus / Atmos, TrueHD and DTS to your receiver. With passthrough off, Dolby audio is decoded on the box.
- Verified format badges (4K · HDR10 · DOLBY ATMOS…) that say what your TV really received, not what the file claims.
Live TV that feels like cable (NostalgiaTV)
- The full program guide, scrolled with the D-pad.
- Surf with Up / Down while the picture is full screen; with the controls showing, the D-pad works the controls instead.
- Type a channel number on remotes with number keys; Last channel jumps back.
- A tuning screen with the channel's logo covers each switch, so letterboxed films never flash stretched while the next program starts.
- The channel's logo sits quietly next to the format badges.
- Programs play from your Jellyfin server's original files, joined at the live position.
Everything else you know from the PC version
Home with the spotlight banner, Continue Watching, Next Up and Recently Added · libraries with sort, filters and an A–Z strip · details with seasons, episodes, cast and extras · search · Seerr requests · intro and credits skipping · Up Next · "Are you still watching?" · chapters · subtitle and audio menus · Quick Connect · multiple profiles with auto sign-in · "Play on Nettle" from other Jellyfin apps.
Made for cheap boxes
Tuned on a 2 GB onn 4K box: about 0.8 s from a cold start to a usable Home screen, and smooth scrolling through Home, libraries and the Live TV guide.
Private by design
- Saved sign-ins are encrypted with a key that never leaves the TV's secure hardware (Android Keystore), and never go into cloud backups.
- No Google Play Services, Firebase, analytics or crash reporting. The build fails if any such library appears.
- Every connection, including video and images, goes through one allowlist: only the servers you set up.
Install on Android TV / Google TV
Works on Android 9 or newer (TVs with Google TV built in, onn 4K, Chromecast with Google TV, Google TV Streamer, NVIDIA Shield…). Nettle isn't on the Play Store, so you install the app file yourself:
- On the TV, install Downloader (by AFTVnews) from the Play Store.
- Allow it to install apps: Settings → Apps → Security & restrictions → Unknown sources (on some TVs Settings → Device preferences → Security), and turn on Downloader.
- Open Downloader and enter:
https://github.com/devall96/Nettle/releases/latest/download/Nettle-AndroidTV.apk - Choose Install, then Open.
With a computer and adb instead: download Nettle-AndroidTV.apk below and run adb install Nettle-AndroidTV.apk.
Tip: sign in with Quick Connect. Pick Use Quick Connect and enter the 6-digit code on your phone or PC in Jellyfin.
Updating later: install the newer Nettle-AndroidTV.apk the same way; it replaces the old one and keeps your settings and sign-ins. (There's no in-app updater on the TV yet.)
Note
First release, tested on one device. The Android TV app has been tested on an onn 4K box (Google TV, Android 14) only. Other boxes and TVs should work, but if you try one, a test report, even "it works", would really help. Logs: adb logcat -d -s Nettle.
Known limits on the TV: no music yet (music libraries are hidden) · with passthrough off, DTS and TrueHD only play if the box can decode them · subtitle tracks that an MKV stores compressed (common for Blu-ray PGS) aren't offered yet, though the file plays · switching Live TV to a 4K remux can take several seconds.
Windows and Linux
Nothing changes in the desktop apps in 0.4.2 apart from the version number and the new "Android TV" line in the artwork. Update whenever you like with Settings → Updates → Check now.
Warning
The Linux build is still untested by hand. The Linux test bench is being reconfigured, so this release was only tested on Windows. The AppImage still passes the automated decode tests on clean Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora and Arch machines. If you're on Linux, a test report would really help.

Nettle 0.4.0
Nettle 0.4.0 — beta
A fast, beautiful Jellyfin client for Windows and Linux, built on mpv. Direct play only: Nettle never asks your server to transcode.
Already on Nettle (or Slopfin)? Settings → Updates → Check now brings you to this version.
Warning
The Linux build is still untested by hand. The Linux test bench is being reconfigured, so this release was only tested by hand on Windows. The AppImage still passes the automated decode tests on clean Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora and Arch machines. If you're on Linux, a test report would really help.
Note
Tested by hand on Windows: the new player controls (speed, subtitle and audio timing, subtitle size), library filters, the A–Z jump and the Seerr suggestions in search. Remote control from another Jellyfin app, the play queue (next / previous) and header-only sign-in for video and thumbnails were tested against a Jellyfin server. Not yet tested by hand: chapters (marks on the seek bar, Page Up / Page Down).
What's new in 0.4.0
Play on Nettle from your phone
- Nettle now shows up as a "Play on" target in other Jellyfin apps. From your phone you can start something, queue more, pause, seek, skip, and change the volume or tracks.
- Watched status and new items from other devices show up without a refresh.
Watching
- Shuffle a whole series: every episode of every season, in random order.
- Play all and Shuffle for libraries and collections. Media next / previous keys move through the list.
- Chapters: marks on the seek bar, chapter names in the scrubbing preview, and Page Up / Page Down to jump.
- Fine-tune while you watch: playback speed (
[]), subtitle timing (ZX), audio timing and subtitle size, under the subtitles button. Speed and subtitle size are remembered. - Find subtitles online from the player, through your server's subtitle plugins (such as Open Subtitles). Your account needs permission to manage subtitles.
- Subtitles turn on the way you like: default track, always, only forced (foreign dialogue), smart (when the audio is in another language), or off. By default this follows each person's own Jellyfin profile, so everyone in a household gets their own.
Browsing
- Library filters for genre, decade and quality (4K / HD / SD), plus an A–Z strip to jump through long libraries.
- Click anyone in the cast to see everything they're in.
- Trailers and extras stored on your server, on the details page.
- Search shows movies, shows and episodes separately. With Seerr set up, titles you don't have yet appear below, ready to request.
- Home skips libraries you hid from "Recently added" in Jellyfin.
Faster
- Instant start: your home screen appears straight away from your last visit while fresh data loads.
- Smaller downloads: lighter server requests, and images in WebP at your screen's real resolution (sharp on 4K, no waste at 100%).
- The network buffer is sized to each file's bitrate, so even 4K remuxes really get the read-ahead you set.
- Player buttons and keys never wait on the video engine.
Privacy and security
- Your sign-in token no longer appears in video, subtitle or thumbnail addresses. It's sent in a header instead, so it can't end up in a reverse proxy's logs.
- If your server signs Nettle out (for example you revoked the device), it goes straight to the sign-in screen.
- Audio passthrough on Windows only takes over the sound device for TrueHD and DTS-HD. Other formats leave other apps' sound alone.
Privacy: Nettle now keeps a live connection open to your own Jellyfin server (that's how remote control works). It still never contacts anything you didn't set up.
Install on Windows
- Download
Nettle-win-Setup.exebelow and run it. It installs for your user only, with no admin rights needed. - Windows may show "Windows protected your PC" because Nettle isn't code-signed yet. Click More info → Run anyway.
Prefer not to install? Use Nettle-win-Portable.zip.

Nettle 0.3.2
Nettle 0.3.2 — beta
A fast, beautiful Jellyfin client for Windows and Linux, built on mpv. Direct play only: Nettle never asks your server to transcode.
Already on Nettle (or Slopfin)? Settings → Updates → Check now brings you to this version.
Warning
The Linux build is still untested by hand. The Linux test bench is being reconfigured, so this release was only tested by hand on Windows. The AppImage still passes the automated decode tests on clean Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora and Arch machines. If you're on Linux, a test report would really help, especially on whether the screen now stays on during a movie.
What's new in 0.3.2: fixes
Playback
- Linux: the screen no longer blanks or locks during a movie. Nettle asks your desktop (GNOME, KDE, Xfce, Cinnamon and others) to keep the screen on while something is playing, and lets go when you pause or close the player.
- Resume positions can no longer land on the wrong episode when Nettle moves on to the next one.
- Seeking adds up: pressing → five times quickly now jumps five steps, not one. The on-screen forward button now jumps the same distance as the → key, and both buttons show how far they jump.
- Your own Jellyfin language choices are used. If the language boxes in Settings are left blank, each person's audio and subtitle languages (and "no subtitles") come from their own Jellyfin profile, so everyone in a household gets their own. A subtitle track you picked by hand no longer carries over to the next file.
Browsing
- Search shows movies and shows again for common words. Each kind of result is looked up separately, so episodes can't push everything else out. Music videos now get their own row.
- Random sort no longer repeats or skips titles. It shows one random selection of up to 300.
- Show pages keep your place: after you close the player, the season you were looking at stays selected and the page doesn't jump. Clicking quickly between season tabs can no longer show the wrong season's episodes.
Security
- Automatic Requests setup never sends your password over an unencrypted connection. If Seerr is only reachable over plain http (when Jellyfin uses https, or across the internet), Nettle fills in Seerr's address and you sign in once in Settings.
- Windows: if a saved sign-in can't be decrypted (for example after a Windows password reset), Nettle keeps a copy of it instead of letting it be overwritten.
Privacy: no new connections. The only new one stays on your own computer: on Linux, Nettle talks to your desktop session to keep the screen on.
Install on Windows
- Download
Nettle-win-Setup.exebelow and run it. It installs for your user only, with no admin rights needed. - Windows may show "Windows protected your PC" because Nettle isn't code-signed yet. Click More info → Run anyway.

Nettle 0.3.1
Nettle 0.3.1 — beta
A fast, beautiful Jellyfin client for Windows and Linux, built on mpv. Direct play only: Nettle never asks your server to transcode.
Note
Nettle used to be called Slopfin. Already on Slopfin 0.1 or 0.2? Settings → Updates → Check now brings you straight to this version, and your settings and saved sign-ins come along. Read about the name change.
Warning
The Linux build is untested for a short while. The Linux test bench is being reconfigured, so this release was only tested by hand on Windows. The Linux AppImage still passes the automated decode tests on clean Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora and Arch machines. If you're on Linux, a test report would really help.
What's new in 0.3.1: easier setup
You now only ever type your server's IP, your username and your password.
- Pick http or https, then type just the IP. Nettle adds Jellyfin's port for you: 8096 for http, 8920 for https. You can still type
:portfor a different one, or a full address likehttps://jellyfin.example.com. - Live TV and Requests set themselves up. After you sign in, Nettle looks on the same machine as your Jellyfin server, with the same http / https, for NostalgiaTV (port 19850) and Seerr (port 5055), and connects whichever it finds.
- Seerr is signed in with the Jellyfin username and password you just entered. The password is passed to Seerr once and never stored.
- If neither is there, you just get Jellyfin, as before. This happens in the background after sign-in, gives up after a few seconds, and never shows an error.
- Anything you already set up in Settings is left alone. Quick Connect has no password, so then only Seerr's address is filled in and you sign in to Seerr once in Settings.
Privacy: the only extra connections are to those two ports on your Jellyfin server's own machine, right after you sign in.

Nettle 0.3.0 (formerly Slopfin)
Nettle 0.3.0 (formerly Slopfin) — beta
A fast, beautiful Jellyfin client for Windows and Linux, built on mpv. Direct play only: Nettle never asks your server to transcode.
Note
Slopfin is now Nettle. Same app, new name and a new sea nettle logo.
- Already on Slopfin 0.1 or 0.2? Use Settings → Updates → Check now. Your settings, saved sign-ins and theme come along automatically, and your Start-menu / desktop shortcuts are renamed to Nettle.
- The logo takes the colours of whichever theme you pick, including the window and taskbar icon.
Warning
The Linux build is untested for a short while. The Linux test bench is being reconfigured, so this release was only tested by hand on Windows. The Linux AppImage still passes the automated decode tests on clean Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora and Arch machines, and hands-on Linux testing will follow soon. If you're on Linux, a test report would really help.
Note
Entirely AI-coded, single-user tested. All of Nettle's code was written by an AI coding assistant (Anthropic's Claude), directed and reviewed by one person, and so far tested only by that person.
About the name change
Nettle was called Slopfin for its first two releases. It was renamed in 0.3.0, partly because an unrelated project with a very similar name (a Jellyfin client for PS5 consoles) kept causing confusion.
Why "Nettle": it's named after the sea nettle (Chrysaora), a jellyfish, as a nod to Jellyfin. The new logo is a sea nettle silhouette that takes your theme's colours.
What happens when you update from Slopfin:
- Nothing to reinstall. Settings → Updates → Check now installs Nettle over Slopfin.
- Settings, saved sign-ins and theme come along. On first start, the data folder moves from
SlopfintoNettle. If the old folder is in use, it's copied instead and the original is left alone. - Shortcuts:
- Windows: Start-menu and desktop shortcuts are renamed to Nettle, and the app shows as Nettle in Windows' Apps list. Taskbar pins keep working.
- Linux: your applications-menu entry is updated in place, so a dock pin stays pinned.
- Your Jellyfin server shows the app as "Nettle (Windows)" or "Nettle (Linux)", and you stay signed in.
What still says "Slopfin" (on purpose): the update packages below (SlopfinApp-…nupkg) and the Windows install folder (%LOCALAPPDATA%\SlopfinApp). The updater finds existing installs by that internal ID, so keeping it is what lets everyone update without reinstalling.
The repository moved too: it's now devall96/Nettle. Old devall96/Slopfin links, and the update address saved in Slopfin's settings, redirect here automatically.
What's new in 0.3.0
- New name: Nettle. Named after the sea nettle, a jellyfish (a nod to Jellyfin).
- New logo, a sea nettle silhouette that follows your theme's colours everywhere: the sidebar, and the window and taskbar icon.
- Data saved under the old name moves over by itself on first start, so nobody is signed out:
- On Windows:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Slopfin→%LOCALAPPDATA%\Nettle. - On Linux:
~/.local/share/Slopfin→~/.local/share/Nettle, and the applications-menu entry is updated in place.
- On Windows:
Everything from 0.2.0 is unchanged: still-watching prompt, scrubbing previews, audio passthrough, Seerr season picker, 16 themes and the rest.

Slopfin 0.2.0
Slopfin 0.2.0 — beta
A fast, beautiful Jellyfin client for Windows and Linux, built on mpv. Direct play only: Slopfin never asks your server to transcode.
Note
Beta on Windows and Linux. Slopfin works well on the machines it has been tested on, but it hasn't been tried on much other hardware yet, so expect some rough edges.
Entirely AI-coded, single-user tested. All of Slopfin's code was written by an AI coding assistant (Anthropic's Claude), directed and reviewed by one person, and so far tested only by that person, on one Windows PC and one Ubuntu PC.
Important
Not to be confused with BeLikeBrett/SlopFin, a Jellyfin client for jailbroken PS5 consoles. That's a different project, by a different author, for different platforms.
What's new in 0.2.0
Playback
- "Are you still watching?" After 3 episodes in a row with no input, or 4 hours of Live TV, Slopfin pauses and asks. Change the count or turn it off in Settings → Playback.
- Scrubbing previews. Hover over or drag the seek bar to see thumbnails, using the trickplay images your Jellyfin server generates. Without them, you still see the time.
- Audio passthrough (optional, off by default). Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus / Atmos, TrueHD, DTS and DTS-HD / DTS:X go to your AV receiver untouched, height channels included. The format badge says when audio is being passed through.
- Resume points are safer. Closing Slopfin mid-episode now waits until the server has your position. Seeks and audio / subtitle choices are reported too, so resuming elsewhere picks up the same tracks.
- Network buffer is now in seconds and actually changes how far ahead mpv downloads.
- Starting an episode no longer downloads the whole series' details to find the next one.
Linux player rebuilt. Video is now drawn by mpv's OpenGL renderer inside Slopfin's own window, with hardware decoding (VA-API). The on-screen controls are part of the window, so the separate controls window, and its alignment problems on GNOME, are gone. If your graphics driver can't do it, Slopfin falls back to the old mode automatically, or set SLOPFIN_VIDEO=window.
Live TV. The guide opens instantly on later visits and stays fast however many days NostalgiaTV schedules, because only the programs around the time you're looking at are drawn.
Requests (Seerr). Requesting a series now lets you choose the seasons; seasons you already have or requested are marked. My Requests shows only your own requests, even when your Seerr account is an admin.
Look and feel
- 8 new themes, 16 in total: Neon Nights, Crimson, Slate, Mocha, Phosphor, High Contrast, Lavender and Sandstone.
- Reduce motion setting turns off page slides, fades, card lifts and the rotating Home banner.
- Home updates in place after you close the player, so you keep your place.
- Posters that scroll off screen stop downloading, and every image is decoded at the size it's shown.
- Picking another version of a movie on its details page updates the format info to match.
App
- Remembers its window size and position.
- Only one copy runs at a time. Opening it again brings the open window forward.
- If the settings file is ever damaged, a copy is kept before it's reset.
Quality. Slopfin now has automated tests, including a guard that fails the build if anything ever asks the server to transcode, and every change is built and tested on Windows and Linux by GitHub Actions.
🧪 Testers wanted
Testing on hardware we haven't seen yet helps a lot: NVIDIA and Intel graphics, laptops, other Linux distros and desktops (KDE, XFCE…), multi-monitor and HDR setups, AV receivers for passthrough.
Install Slopfin, play a mix of things (4K/HDR/Dolby Vision, older SD shows, surround audio, subtitles, Live TV), then file a test report. The form asks for your OS, desktop, graphics card, what you played (press I while playing to see the format badges), and the end of the log. Reports that everything worked are useful too.
Install on Windows
- Download
SlopfinApp-win-Setup.exebelow and run it. It installs for your user only, with no admin rights needed. - Windows may show "Windows protected your PC" because Slopfin isn't code-signed yet. Click More info → Run anyway. This only happens on the first install.
Already on 0.1.0? Settings → Updates → Check now installs this version (only changed files are downloaded).
Prefer not to install? Use SlopfinApp-win-Portable.zip.
Requirements: Windows 10/11 64-bit and Jellyfin 10.9 or newer.
Install on Linux
- Download
SlopfinApp.AppImagebelow and make it executable: right-click → Properties → Allow executing as program, orchmod +x SlopfinApp.AppImage. - Double-click it. Slopfin offers to add itself to your applications menu. This is also in Settings → Desktop. No root is needed, and nothing is installed system-wide.
mpv is built in, so nothing else is needed. It works on 64-bit Ubuntu 24.04+, Debian 13+, Fedora 40+, Arch and their derivatives. If it won't start, install libfuse2t64 (Ubuntu/Debian) or fuse2.
Known limitations
- Linux: HDR is tone-mapped to SDR (X11/XWayland has no HDR path yet). NVIDIA, Intel, KDE and multi-monitor setups are untested so far.
- Audio passthrough depends on your receiver and, on Linux, on your sound server allowing it. On Windows it takes exclusive use of the audio device while playing.
- Unsigned build, so Windows SmartScreen shows a warning on first install.
Which file do I download?
| You're on | Download |
|---|---|
| Windows | SlopfinApp-win-Setup.exe (or SlopfinApp-win-Portable.zip to run without installing) |
| Linux | SlopfinApp.AppImage |
Ignore the other files. The .nupkg and .json files and RELEASES / RELEASES-linux are read by Slopfin's built-in updater (Settings → Updates): the .json files list the versions, the full packages hold the whole app, and the delta packages hold only what changed since the last version, so updating is a small download. "Source code" is added by GitHub to every release.
Both builds include mpv and the libraries it uses (FFmpeg, libplacebo and others), unmodified. Their licenses and source locations are listed in THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md.

Slopfin 0.1.0 (beta)
Slopfin 0.1.0 — beta

Powered by mpv
Slopfin plays everything with mpv (libmpv) on both Windows and Linux:
- Dolby Vision done properly, including profile 5.
- HDR10 / HDR10+ / HLG / Dolby Vision go straight to HDR displays on Windows. On SDR screens, HDR is tone-mapped faithfully.
- Smooth motion. 24 fps films sync to your display's refresh rate, so there's no judder.
- Light on the CPU. Hardware decoding runs end to end: D3D11VA on Windows, VA-API on Linux.
- Sealed off. The player never loads mpv configs, scripts or youtube-dl lookups from your PC, and makes no network access beyond your own server.

Highlights
- Original-quality playback through mpv, with TV-style format badges (4K · DOLBY VISION · DOLBY ATMOS). Each badge is checked against what's actually playing, and HDR is only claimed when an HDR signal really reaches your display.
- Skip intro, recap, credits, previews and ads using Intro Skipper or Jellyfin media segments, plus an Up Next countdown.
- NostalgiaTV live TV, with a scrolling guide covering the whole schedule. Channels play the original files from Jellyfin at the live position, and empty channels are hidden.
- Seerr requests: trending, search, one-click requests and request status.
- Server discovery, Quick Connect, and multiple profiles with secure auto sign-in: DPAPI on Windows, the desktop keyring on Linux. Passwords are never stored.
- 8 original themes and keyboard / TV-remote navigation.
- Zero telemetry. Slopfin only talks to the servers you configure.
Updates
Updates are opt-in on both platforms. Go to Settings → Updates, enter https://github.com/devall96/Slopfin, and press Check now. Only changed files are downloaded.
Known limitations
- Linux: HDR is tone-mapped to SDR, because Slopfin's window runs through X11/XWayland, which has no HDR path yet. NVIDIA, Intel, KDE and multi-monitor setups are untested so far.
- Atmos and DTS:X are decoded to PCM, with no passthrough yet.
- Unsigned build, so Windows SmartScreen shows a warning on first install.
