Nettle 0.4.1 — beta

A fast, beautiful Jellyfin client for Windows and Linux, built on mpv. Direct play only: Nettle never asks your server to transcode.

Already on Nettle (or Slopfin)? Settings → Updates → Check now brings you to this version.

Warning

The Linux build is still untested by hand. The Linux test bench is being reconfigured, so this release was only tested on Windows. The AppImage still passes the automated decode tests on clean Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora and Arch machines. If you're on Linux, a test report would really help.

What's new in 0.4.1

  • Settings → Updates comes filled in with Nettle's own releases (https://github.com/devall96/Nettle), so there's nothing to copy and paste. Just press Check now.
  • Installs that had an empty update source get the address filled in automatically. If you entered your own source, it's kept.

Privacy: unchanged. Nettle still never checks for updates on its own unless you turn that on, and nothing is contacted until you press Check now.

Install on Windows

  1. Download Nettle-win-Setup.exe below and run it. It installs for your user only, with no admin rights needed.
  2. Windows may show "Windows protected your PC" because Nettle isn't code-signed yet. Click More info → Run anyway.

Prefer not to install? Use Nettle-win-Portable.zip.

Install on Linux

  1. Download Nettle.AppImage below and make it executable (right-click → Properties → Allow executing as program, or chmod +x Nettle.AppImage).
  2. Double-click it. Nettle offers to add itself to your applications menu.

Which file do I download?

You're on Download
Windows Nettle-win-Setup.exe (or Nettle-win-Portable.zip to run without installing)
Linux Nettle.AppImage

Ignore the other files. The .nupkg and .json files and RELEASES are read by the built-in updater. They keep the old internal name (SlopfinApp) so existing installs keep finding their updates. "Source code" is added by GitHub to every release.

Both builds include mpv and the libraries it uses (FFmpeg, libplacebo and others), unmodified. Their licenses and source locations are listed in THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md.
