API should strip any prefixed # characters from the team.hashtag string

The db column team.hashtag should be consistent in not having a # prefix. We should follow how osmesa and scoreboard are implementing it and store hashtags without prefix.

I think we should have the UI enforce that any word in this field starts with a hashtag and allow for multiple hashtags. What do you think @vgeorge @LanesGood @batpad? This could be useful for other applications.

Sounds useful, nice idea @kamicut. As a best effort implementation, we could probably have the UI add the hashtag automatically and ignore a first-character hashtag.
