It took a while to land on a good solution, but this is working! I followed the approach suggested in aws-samples/opentelemetry-lambda-container#9 which downloads an easily accessible .zip file with the AWS OTEL Python instrumentation and extracts it into the
/optdirectory of the Lambda container image.
