OpenPatch 0.3.2 · build 15

New

  • Patch Engine v2: songs are built from the best instruments in the whole module library: FM and wavefolding voices, wavetables, physical models and analog-style filters. Hooks are short, singable motifs, and bass lines follow the chords. Songs can be classic, long, slow-building progressive or abrupt collage forms, with drifting arpeggios, tape echo and stereo width.
  • Five new genres: Progressive House, Hypnagogic, Berlin School, IDM and Melodic Techno, for 13 genres plus C418 mode.
  • Controls: energy, complexity, weirdness, space and song length (32, 64 or 128 bars).
  • New sounds / New song / Evolve: keep the song and change the instruments, keep the instruments and write a new song, or nudge both. Every song has a short genome code, shown in the panel and saved in the patch notes, that rebuilds it exactly.

Fixes

  • Panning or zooming the rack during a build no longer stops it with "document changed since native build preparation".
  • Knobs, cables and modules respond to the mouse while the Patch Engine panel is open.
  • Rebuilding a generated song no longer asks to save after you only panned, zoomed or played it. Real edits still ask.
  • The Patch Engine word list shows a scrollbar, so the Controls below are easy to find.

Downloads

  • macOS ARM: extract the zip and move OpenPatch.app to Applications.
  • Windows x64: extract the full zip and run openpatch-desktop.exe.
  • Steam Deck / Linux x64: extract the tar.gz and run ./install.sh. On Deck, install in Desktop Mode; follow STEAM-DECK.txt for Game Mode controls.

Archives include the desktop app, MCP command-line tool, examples and licenses. SHA256SUMS and build-provenance.json identify the exact files and tested source. Existing patches and settings are preserved by the Linux updater.

Patch Engine seeds from 0.3.1 compose differently in 0.3.2. Saved patches are unaffected.

The Mac app is ad-hoc signed, not notarized; Windows binaries are unsigned. General VCV plugin compatibility remains unfinished. Windows audio hardware and Steam Deck hardware/Game Mode still need hands-on qualification.
