Annotation permissions

kstapelfeldt edited this page Jun 28, 2017 · 2 revisions

Islandora Web Annotations introduces six additional permissions specifically for annotation objects. These permissions can be applied to user roles via the standard Drupal permissions administration pages. Users have to have "View Repository Objects" permission in order for any of the additional permissions to work.

View web annotations

allows a user to load and view annotations associated with an object.

Create web annotations

allows a user to annotate an object of one of the supported content models.

Edit any web annotations

allows a user to edit any web annotation.

Delete any web annotations

allows a user to delete any web annotation.

Edit own web annotations

allows a user to edit annotations they create.

Delete own web annotations

allows a user to delete annotations they create.

Use Case

The following describes how annotation permissions might be applied in an annotation workflow

Multiple users with subject knowledge contribute annotations to images in order to enrich them for the public, but these annotations must be moderated by one person.

The Annotation Moderator would be assigned all annotation permissions. The Annotating Users would be assigned the ability to create annotations, and possibly the ability to edit or delete the annotations they create themselves. The Anonymous role would be granted the ability to view annotations.
