Meeting minutes 2017 10 05
Attendance: Robert Anderson, George Bina, Jarno Elovirta, Eric Sirios, Bob Johnson, Lief Erickson, Roger, Bill Gamboa
Item 1: Any updates about prior releases?
Patch planned for today, 2.5.4. Travis having some trouble building dist package but guessing that's our issue, not Travis issue. Jarno will probably end up building locally, which has to be done for dost.jar
file anyway. Also having trouble with docs build, because it's using develop
code to build hotfix/2.5.4
docs.
Item 2: DITA-OT 3.0 Development status and updates
Jarno has been focused on LwDITA -- refactoring markdown plugin. Merged LwDITA html / markdown parsers into one plugin, to bundle with 3.0. Will probably stay busy with that.
preprocess needs testing / approval: Robert will be trying out this week.
New accessibility pull request from last week -- lots of discussion of link list that needs to be an actual X/HTML list. Jarno expects to review today.
Additional accessibility item - Robert started work on new DITA 1.3 attributes for tables, but ran into a spec bug that will be part of a future errata. We should fix the markup in our release, which may allow time for implementation.
Questions from Roger about format
values for new markdown support -- if you use mdita
it will use the new LwDITA parsing, and if you use markdown
or md
it will use the older support that handles topic nesting.
As end of release approaches: planning to have new feature development done by October 15.
Item 3: Doc updates and plans, update on documentation call
Working on markdown / normalization docs. Oct 15 deadline for new features hopefully means can get everything updated on time for release.
Have some concern over docs for preprocess -- need input from Robert / Jarno: https://github.com/dita-ot/docs/issues/149.
Not sure if wider restructure to get rid of Book Paradigm will happen in 3.0 or not -- not quite there, and given the choice, focus should be on new 3.0 features.
Would love to have a way for plugins to contribute to docs...
Item 4: DITA-OT Day
DITA-OT Day Agenda is out. 54 registered attendees right now. Need to do some more promotion. Have room for max 80 or 90 in the room.
Item 5: Other topics
Robert brought up issues in the #development
channel in Slack - having trouble running Gradle tasks because Saxon fails on xsl:include
tests that pull in 2 different functions.xsl
files with same name -- it gets one copy twice, meaning we have a "duplicate import" info message but also a bunch of missing functions. Anybody else having such issues? Only happens with develop
, not master
.
Item 6: Backlog discussion
Time to go through pull requests, issues tracker, determine how to handle open issues.
