DocBox is a desktop app for Windows, macOS (Apple Silicon) and Linux that reads text from images and PDFs with open-source OCR models running on your own computer. There's no account and no cloud, unless you switch on the optional NVIDIA engine.
- Installing DocBox: which file to download, and getting past the Windows and macOS warnings.
- Choosing an engine: which OCR engine and model fits your documents and your computer.
- Troubleshooting and FAQ: startup problems, failed downloads, where your data lives.
The step-by-step tutorial with screenshots is in the README.
- Development setup: running the app from source, tests and lint.
- Releasing: how a new version is built and published.
- Roadmap: features we've planned but not built yet.
Questions and ideas are welcome in Discussions; bugs go in Issues.
