Github Copilot Extension Support for VS Code

Hi, We tried installing of Github Copilot VS. code extension using vsix file, but not able to install it. Is it possible to add that in the repository?

Hello @filiptronicek @amvanbaren as @cgruver mentioned newer versions of copilot work in Code-OSS as long as a certain version requirement is met. This is probably one of the most demanded VS Code extensions so is there any plan to publish it in the future?

We need to be clear on the extension. GitHub Copilot is offered under a commercial license and no repo is specified. Only the author can publish it to Open VSX. GitHub Copilot Chat extension is also offered under a commercial license, though the code in the associated repo is under MIT. Anyone is free to build the Copilot Chat extension from the open source code and publish it.

Yes, should have been more clear. Microsoft has moved functionality from the old closed source Github Copilot extension into the open source Github Copilot Chat extension with a new repo. Was wondering if Eclipse Foundation had any plans to republish the Chat extension using the new repo.
