RecompLauncher 0.90 Beta 12
- Smoother on Linux and Steam Deck. The window stays responsive while the launcher looks through a game's files, scrolling glides, and the soft glows are lighter to draw. NVIDIA and AppImage setups that showed a blank window draw the launcher properly now.
- GE-Proton in one press. On Linux, Settings → General has a GE-Proton button that grabs the newest one and sets it up. Windows recomps play through it right away.
- See where a recomp runs. Small Windows, Linux and Mac marks sit under every cover, and Discover has a new Runs On filter. On Linux, Windows-only recomps are marked as playing through Proton.
- READMEs on game pages. A recomp's README from its GitHub is on its page now, folded away until you open it.
- Steam Controller support. The launcher picks up a Steam Controller, and on a Steam Deck the button prompts match the Deck.
- Add to Steam from Big Picture settings. The Add to Steam button in Settings → Big Picture mode does its job now.
- Big Picture mode opens properly. It no longer comes up as a blank screen with only sound on some setups.
- Launcher updates that didn't stick. If an update downloads but doesn't install, the launcher tells you next time and can run its installer again.
- Starts the right program. Picking a game's setup as its program runs the setup, Troubleshoot warns when a game is set to start one of its tools, and Linux start scripts without a #! line run now.
- Your disc reaches more Linux builds. Linux builds named differently from their Windows version get your disc image too.
- Clearer errors. When Windows blocks an install with "access denied", or a Linux build is made for another processor, the launcher says what's going on and what to do.
- Every save gets backed up. Saves kept as .bin files, common in Xbox ports, are backed up and synced like the rest.

RecompLauncher 0.90 Beta 9
- Way faster browsing. Opening Discover with the full list, and coming back to it from a game's page, is many times quicker. Long lists only size up the titles you can actually see.
- Installs work when the site is down. If recomplauncher.com can't be reached, the launcher gets a game's releases straight from GitHub, so you can still install and update.
- Lighter checks. The game list and release info only download again when they've actually changed, and covers come in at the size they're shown.
- Game pages load ahead. Rest the pointer on a game and its page starts loading, so it's ready when you open it.
- Cloud saves between Windows and Linux. A Windows game played through Proton on Linux now backs up and restores its saves in the right place, so the same save follows you between your PC and a Linux handheld.
- File picker fix. On folders with lots of files, the Cancel and Choose buttons stay on screen.

RecompLauncher 0.90 Beta 11
- Starts the actual game. Some downloads come with extra tools like shader builders, translators, compilers or servers, and the launcher would sometimes pick one of those instead of the game. It knows better now, and if it really can't tell, it asks you which program is the game. Games already in your Library get checked again the next time you press Play.
- AppImages work without FUSE. On Linux systems missing libfuse2, AppImages now start anyway.
- Picks the right Proton. The launcher only uses a Proton built for your processor.
- Installs hold up better. If recomplauncher.com is having a moment, installs fall back to GitHub, and then to the release info you already have. If a release's file changed after the launcher read it, it grabs the new one and keeps going.
- Programs that need admin. Games and setups that have to run as administrator now ask Windows for permission instead of failing.
- Discord from shortcuts. Games started from a desktop shortcut now show up in your Discord status too, as long as the launcher is open.
- More crash help on Linux. The crash window spots when Proton is missing something a game needs, or when a game needs a library your system doesn't have, and tells you what to install.
- Text Size. Settings → Appearance has a new Text Size option, from 90% up to 150%, to make the whole launcher bigger or smaller. Ctrl with + or - works too.
- Row arrows respond everywhere. The left and right arrows on Home and Discover rows now work wherever you click them.

RecompLauncher 0.90 Beta 10
- New Customize window. Right-click a game and pick Customize to change its name, cover, background, logo and icon in one place. Grab art from SteamGridDB (with your own free key) or use your own picture, then drag and zoom it inside the real frame and see how it looks before you save. Works for every game, not just the ones you added yourself.
- Your art goes everywhere. Add to Steam and desktop shortcuts now use your custom cover, background, logo, icon and name, on Windows, Linux and Steam Deck. On Windows the game's window and taskbar pick up your icon while it runs too.
- Smoother right-click menus. Submenus open on hover now, right next to the menu.
- Pick Linux or Windows. On Linux, when a game has both a Linux build and a Windows one that runs through Proton, the launcher asks which one you want the first time.
- Windows setups on Linux. A game whose setup is a Windows program now runs it through Proton instead of failing.
- No more setup loops. After a game's own setup finishes, the launcher asks which program actually starts the game, so it won't keep opening the installer.
- More downloads work. Releases packed as .rar, and Windows builds packed as .tar.gz, install now. If a game's newest release has no build in it yet, the launcher grabs the latest one that does.
- Found the wrong copy? If the launcher found the wrong file for a game in your folders, hit Not This One on its page and pick the right one.
- Launcher updates go through. Updating from inside the launcher no longer gets stuck on "Copying RecompLauncher". There's also an Update RecompLauncher button in the sidebar when a new version is out.
- Better crash help. The crash window now spots when your PC ran out of memory, or when a game needs a command that isn't installed, and tells you what to do.
- Fixes. Pages no longer go blank while a game is running, and a found copy tucked one folder deeper gets picked up during setup.
Keep the logs coming from the crash window and Settings → Beta. Every one helps.
RecompLauncher 0.90 Beta 8
- Works offline. Your Library, installed games and Play don't need a connection. If the site can't be reached, the launcher keeps going with what it already has and shows a small Offline tag up top.
- Faster startup. The game list and release info stay on your PC and freshen up in the background, so the launcher opens straight to your games.
- Easier on your connection. It checks in a lot less and only looks things up when you open them. A game's releases load when you visit its page or hit Install or Update.
- Smarter retries. When the site is busy, the launcher waits a bit and tries again on its own, no error popups.
- Cloud saves catch up. A save that couldn't upload tries again by itself once the site is back.
- Custom backgrounds show up. A cover or background you set for a game you added yourself now shows on its page and in Big Picture, portable copies too.

RecompLauncher 0.90 Beta 7
- Set Up By Hand. If a game still won't start the launcher's way, point it at the program and your game files yourself, and say how the game gets them: in its folder, on the command line, or the game asks. Find it under Manage in the right-click menu, in Troubleshoot, or under a setup that didn't work.
- Pick your build. When a release comes as more than one kind (an AppImage and a plain folder, a portable zip and an installer, 32-bit too), you choose the first time, with the usual one marked. Updates keep the kind you picked, and Change Build lists them all.
- Troubleshoot digs deeper. It finds the files a game needs that aren't on your PC and says what to install, spots a game folder inside OneDrive, and hears a game saying it was given the wrong files. A missing program you picked by hand gets its own fix.
- Game files one folder off. Pick the folder around your game files, or one inside them, and the launcher finds the right one.
- Linux builds start right. A game with a build per region starts the one you have, and a Linux start script is only used when there's a Linux program beside it.
- Looks show up more often. On Windows a Look tries both ways in first, and Troubleshoot can let it try both again.
- Copy what you see. Descriptions, paths, errors and Troubleshoot results can be selected and copied.
- Clearer when a drive is gone. If your library is on a drive that isn't connected, the launcher says so.

RecompLauncher 0.90 Beta 6
- Smoother everywhere. Scrolling your Library, opening game pages and folding the sidebar are lighter and faster, on the Steam Deck and Linux most of all. Big lists only draw the games you can see.
- Out of the way while you play. While a game runs, the launcher stops its animations and checks the controller less often, so the game gets the power.
- Steam Deck: Add to Steam. From Desktop Mode it closes and reopens Steam properly, and the launcher opens in Gaming Mode.
- Windows recomps on Linux. When the launcher finds Proton or Wine, Windows-only recomps show up and play through it. You can turn it off in Settings → General.
- Smarter Check the Details. Add From GitHub keeps the project's own name and fills in the game it's for, and the art follows the game name as you type it. Pick other art from the cover, the background or Choose Art.
- Know the game behind your folders. Folders you add get the game they're for from their README or name, so Show Game Names works for them too.
- Troubleshoot knows more. It spots a folder path with letters some games can't read, and a game saying it can't find its files. When a game closes right as it starts, the crash window leads with Troubleshoot.
- Clearer download errors. They say which site had the problem and what it means.
- Time to update. If you're a few versions behind, the launcher tells you when it opens.
- Little things. Updates Ready rows open the game's page, and the console picker in Add From GitHub is easier to use.

RecompLauncher 0.90 Beta 5
- Troubleshoot. Right-click a game that won't start and pick Troubleshoot, or open it from the crash window. It checks its files, what it needs on your PC, your copy of the game and more, with a fix button next to anything wrong. Send to the Developer puts what it found straight into a report.
- Shorter right-click menu. Everything's still there, grouped under Manage, Customize, Add To, Files and On GitHub.
- Add to Start Menu / App Menu. Put any game in the Windows Start menu or your Linux app menu.
- Fits small screens. The launcher now works down to 640×480, so CRTs and small displays are fine.
- Choose your art. Add From GitHub and Edit Game Info now have Choose Art: every cover and background SteamGridDB has for the game, side by side. Click the ones you like.
- Better at knowing the game. Add From GitHub now finds the game's name in more kinds of repo titles and descriptions ("… PC Port", "a recomp of …"), and checks it with SteamGridDB when you have a key.
- Plugins can add mods. A plugin can put a mod or texture pack straight into a game's folder, after asking you. Plugin downloads show in Downloads with their progress, and you pick where they go.
- Safer plugins. When a site sends a plugin's request or download somewhere else, the launcher follows it only to sites that plugin listed, and asks you first about any you haven't allowed yet.
- Linux: links open your browser. Links now open in your default browser, Flatpak browsers too.
- Add to Steam on Steam Deck and Big Picture. When Steam opened RecompLauncher, or you're in Gaming Mode, the launcher tells you what to do instead of freezing or doing nothing.
- Linux builds start right. A game whose setup names a Windows start file now starts with its Linux build's own script, and Windows scripts run through Proton.
- Found games you can play. When the launcher finds your game files, it only counts recomps that run on your PC.

RecompLauncher 0.90 Beta 4
- Plugins. Add pages and tools made by other people from Settings → Plugins. Each one runs walled off from the rest of the launcher, shows what it can do before you install it, and asks you before it downloads or installs anything and the first time it connects to a site. Turn one off, or all of them at once, any time.
- Make your own plugin. The developer guide and an example plugin are on GitHub.
- Your sidebar, your way. Settings → Appearance → Sidebar: hide sections and put them in the order you like. Big Picture follows along.
- Smarter Add From GitHub. The launcher reads the repo to work out the game and its console, checks Discover first, and shows you the details to check before adding it. Add your own free SteamGridDB key in Settings → Games and folders for covers and backgrounds.
- Edit Game Info. Change the name, game, console and art of a game you added yourself, from its right-click menu.
- Pick your region. When a release has a build for each region, you choose which one, and can switch later with Change Build.
- Zipped copies work. Pick a .7z or .zip as your game copy and the launcher unpacks it for you.
- Fewer false virus warnings. RecompLauncher now asks Windows for what it needs directly, and we cleaned up the wording that antivirus tools were misreading.
- Sign-in kept by Windows. Your sign-in now lives in Windows' Credential Manager. Sign in once more after updating.
- Installs that hang on. If Windows or an antivirus is holding a file while a game installs, the launcher waits and tries again.
- Admin prompts that show up. Game uninstallers that need administrator rights now get Windows' prompt.
- Linux. Windows games running through Proton now find your game copy.
We're in the process of getting RecompLauncher officially signed. Thanks for your patience, and for being part of the RecompLauncher family.

RecompLauncher 0.90 Beta 3.1
Some of you got a virus warning from Windows Security after Beta 3. Sorry about that. It was a false positive, and this update is the fix.

- Admin prompts that show up. Game uninstallers that need administrator rights now get Windows' prompt.
We're in the process of getting RecompLauncher officially signed, so these warnings should be gone in the coming days.
