BALTRAD archive only from "2017-10-29" to "2017-12-31" /BS22
- AEMET applies a non-precipitative filter to all data they store which removes bird echoes and renders it useless for biological purposes. HDF5 format is not suitable nor IRIS format. The only Spanish radar data suitable for bird analyses are the Basque and Catalonian non-AEMET data, not available through ENRAM. /NW
- Limited height range from ground level to 800 m a.g.l. /BS19
- Low bird density (often below 10 bird km2), and some radars (
essan,essse) had no nocturnal migration visible. /BS19 -
sd_vvp_thresholdat 2 m/s creates gaps. /BS19 - Little information on rain contamination. /BS19
- Ground clutter do not seem to be an issue. /BS19
In the polar volume data there seems to be an inconsistency in the range scale where some times the rscale is 500 m and sometimes a 1000m. Looking at the ppi this does not seem real as often the static objects shift closer and further form the radar.
