control battery charge/discharge through mqtt ?

I have a marstek venus that i can control via a rs485 esphome device.
I have it publishing data on mqtt and am able to control it thorugh mqtt. (nearly live steering)

Is there a way I can let EVCC control the charge/discharge rate of the battery according to how much PV surplus I have and have it be prioritized above/below our EV charging ?

The battery has its own "0 on the meter" algo but i'd like to have all control in one place otherwise things tend to be fighting each other for control.

Ich habe für meine Venus ein benutzerdefiniertes Gerät über das UI angelegt und im Template ist die Sektion „batterymode“ drin. Einfach als Source „mqtt“ eintragen und probieren.

Ich kann mein Coding auf dem Tablet nicht rauskopieren, daher ein Screenshot (ist nur SOC und Power, aber unten ist die Sektion zur Batteriesteuerung)

great! but then how can evcc control the charge / discharge rate ? i cant seem to find this anywhere in the docs...

These are the controls I have (ignore the double sensors, that's due to the battery reporting from both esphome api and mqtt into one device)

The use case of batterymode is to stop discharging the battery while the car is charging in fast mode and to charge the battery, when the price is low.

As I understand, you want to use evcc as a battery management system? That is not possible.

I have the battery configured via a custom entry, is stopping discharging possible in a custom entry ?

Volkers answer gives the evcc batterymode to a mqtt if I do not miss something.

If you would like to control the batterymode via MQTT API this is also possible, using topic batterymode/set like using the REST API.

If you would like to enable the batterymode functions for a custom template just see custom templates defined and search for batterymode enabled custom templates: same struture as Volker provided but setting device parameters (Kostal Plenticore Gen2 via modbus, SMA, many others) instead pushing to an mqtt topic.
