Help updating expr to v1.12.5 from 1.17.7

Hello all, I need some help with a version update. In the past we tried to migrate v1.12.5 to the most updated version of expr lib, but we noticed that we need to do some conversion because in this lib *field and field are the same in 1.12.5 but in newer version we have a more stricter type checking.

basically we override a couple of expr functions like this and it started to consume a lot of CPU in our machines

		return false
	}
	a = getElemIfPtrKind(a)
	b = getElemIfPtrKind(b)
	return runtime.Less(a, b)

	if reflect2.TypeOf(a).Kind() == reflect.Ptr {
		a = reflect.ValueOf(a).Elem().Interface()
	}
	return a
}

We have a couple of rules that use *pointer and we could migrate this rules to start to using only structs, but I want to know with you have some recommendations for this version update
