User Manual:Using PAT Twitter Lists

Meitar Moscovitz edited this page Jun 4, 2014 · 14 revisions

A PAT-Twitter list is a curated group of Twitter users that can also display additional information shared about those users. You can create your own lists or subscribe to lists created by others. When you subscribe to a list, members of that list will be outlined in red on your tweet stream and elsewhere on Twitter. You can look at a users's Twitter profile to see which PAT-Twitter lists they are members of and reasons they were added to those lists.

Note: PAT-Twitter lists can be either public or private. Public lists are permanent public records. They can be subscribed to by any user who has access to the facilitator (or "server") where they are hosted. Private lists exist only on your computer, unless you share them directly with others (such as via e-mail). Not even Twitter admins can see them.

To create a list:

  1. Go to your Lists page. This can be done via the gear icon drop down menu in the top right navigation bar or by clicking on the "PAT Lists" link in your dashboard stats.
  2. Click Create new PAT Twitter List
  3. Enter the name of your list, a short description of the list, and select if you want the list to be private (only accessible to you) or public (anyone can subscribe to the list).
  4. Click Save list.

To subscribe to an existing a list:

  1. Download the public list you want from the facilitator where it is hosted OR receive a private list file directly from a friend.
  2. Go to your Lists page. This can be done via the gear icon drop down menu in the top right navigation bar or by clicking on the "PAT Lists" link in your dashboard stats.
  3. Click Create new PAT Twitter List.
  4. Select the Import from file tab.
  5. Click Choose file and select the PAT-Twitter list file you want to import. (The file should end in .json)
  6. Click Save list.
  7. To update an imported list, click Refresh from Predator Alert Tool server. Lists will not refresh automatically.
