How to deploy FastAPI with MongoDB Atlas on Vercel?

Deploying FastAPI to Vercel is fun. But I've never succeeded establishing connection to MongoDB Atlas.

My guess is that you have to configure networking to allow the connection? Atlas requires you either specify static IP addresses or do something like VPC peering in AWS. I suggest you reach out to Atlas support (first 30 days is free if you don't have it already) and troubleshoot with them as this is very unlikely to be an issue with FastAPI.

I know it is not an issue with FastAPI. From MongoDB Atlas documentation:

The Python 3.6 installers for macOS from https://www.python.org do not automatically install any CA certificates. Without installed CA certificates, connections to Atlas will fail certificate verification.

At Vercel, the only available runtime is Python 3.6.

Otherwise, if you want a "serverless" provider with free tiers, you could try other things, like Deta, or Google Cloud Run.
