Record Sub Navigation Options for Collapsible or Always Appear in Drop Down?

For Record Subnavigation, is there a way to make it collapsible so it doesn't consume too much horizontal screen real estate or always make it appear at the top of the page like it does when it responds to mobile devices? I'm working on very dense forms with many fields and while the Record Subnavigation is incredibly helpful I'm finding that it does consume too much horizontal screen real estate for large/xl size browsers, but when the form responds to mobile the drop down is very nice and compact.

Ideally there would be a way to make the Record Subnavigation always appear at the top of the page in a drop down no matter the browser size or at least add an option to collapse it to give the user more screen real estate.
