Feature: Launch Files with Windows + E Key

What feature or improvement do you think would benefit Files?

I've been using Windows + E to launch File Explorer since the Windows 95 era and it's etched into my very soul. However, I can't seem to find a way to remap this key to launch Files instead. Even if it's set as the default file manager. Is this available somewhere and if not, is there any possibility to add it? This sounds super minor but is so ingrained in me, it's kind of a deal breaker. Thanks!

• Allow Files to take over the Windows + E binding so that it launches instead of File Explorer.

Thanks for the feedback, you can go to Files settings > Advanced > Set Files as the default file manager to replace the shortcut

Hi there. I actually did that (mentioned it in the original issue), but the key is still opening standard File Explorer.

Unfortunately we haven't been able to reproduce this, we're tracking this in #16111. If you have an antivirus other than Windows Defender check if it reports blocking a registry change or turn it off and try again.

Very well then. I'll watch that issue. I'm just running Defender and oddly, it has properly taken over the File Explorer icon, just not the hotkey. Very odd. I'll keep poking at it and if I can find a fix, I'll add it there. Cheers!
