Bug: Symbolic Links / Junction Files are not displayed correctly

Description

I have created a Junction / Symbolic link between a folder on drive C to a folder with same name on drive D.

Here is how it appears on Windows Explorer:

And the properties as reported by Explorer:

Also, same folder as viewed in FilePilot file manager is:

When access the files properties through the mouse right-click, the same original windows properties dialog opens and the details are view successfully.

In Files 4.0.0.0, no indication is given at all that the folder is a symbolic link / junction:

Steps To Reproduce

1. Create symbolic link folder starting with a dot '.' from C drive to D drive
2. explore the current location where the symbolic link was created

Thanks for the report, is your issue that Files doesn't display system link in the properties window? Also, what command are you using as Windows File Explorer doesn't have a link properties tab by default

Hello,

The problem is Files fails to display any indication that the folder is a symbolic link / junction.
1- No visual indication like Explorer or FilePilot
2- When you mouse right-click and select Properties, also, no indication the folder/file is a symbolic link is displayed in the properties window

Also, what command are you using as Windows File Explorer doesn't show a link properties tab either

Not sure I follow. Just right-clicked the folder and selected properties. I looked into my system, and I cant remember I installed anything recently.

Files shows the shortcut icon for system links

We're tracking showing information in properties in the below linked issue. You can check there or click subscribe in the right sidebar for updates.

Am afraid no it does not. How it appears in Files 4 at the moment

Originally, I modified the code to make it display the shortcut icon on previous version. Since I saw #9991 , I thought it is being worked on and will be fixed in version 4.

When I modified the previous version, I needed to add:

We don't have a specific timeline for #9991, however it is on our list of things to look into.
