Finalverse 0.4.0-preview.3 — real world accounts (Mac)
Finalverse v0.4.0-preview.3 adds real MutSea account registration to the Mac login flow. This remains an experimental prerelease, with limited world capacity.
Create your own account
- Open MutSea registration.
- Choose your avatar first and last name, a starter character and a 12–16 character printable ASCII password. Wait for Account ready while MutSea provisions appearance, outfit, inventory and home.
- Sign in to the account portal and save private recovery codes. Email is optional/unverified; email reset is not available.
- Install this Mac preview, select Finalverse Harbor (Preview) (
https://grid.mutsea.com/), and enter First Last plus your chosen password. A UUID or email is not your viewer login.

What changed
- The grid selector stays visible. Saved grid choices/credentials are preserved; check the destination before signing in.
- Sign up and password help on MutSea open its registration/recovery pages, rather than inherited Second Life URLs.
- UUID/email-style MutSea logins receive a local First Last explanation.
- Registration activates an ordinary native account only after starter appearance, inventory and home checks. The website and viewer use the same credential. The backend reuses mature .NET 8 native services and PostgreSQL.
- Includes preview.2's fix for protected macOS resource reads (
settings_files.xml); no profile deletion is required.
Verification and boundaries
The universal viewer build and 119 CTest tests pass. The exact installed DMG launched to the preview.3 login screen with its grid selector and Sign up visible. After the Mac was unlocked, the final interactive check passed: invalid identifiers show First Last guidance, Sign up opens the real HTTPS registration page in Safari, and normal Quit exits the viewer. The UI acceptance addendum supersedes the earlier pending UI entry; original installer/assets are unchanged. Server acceptance includes 75 Linux API/security checks, 14 native-account checks, 26 real PostgreSQL queue/recovery checks, and eight running-world provisioning checks repeated after restart. A newly registered synthetic account completed public TLS login, real UDP scene streaming, HTTPS capability negotiation and logout. The portal accepted the same password and reported the provisioned home.
The Mac binary includes Apple Silicon and Intel architectures; native UI acceptance is on Apple Silicon. Intel hardware and other platform binaries are not verified or supplied. This package is ad hoc signed and not notarized: macOS may block it. Verify the GitHub origin and SHA-256, then read Apple's per-app security guidance. Do not disable Gatekeeper globally.
No test password, account configuration or cloud API key is bundled. Registration is limited to 100 preview admissions with abuse limits and native readiness checks. MFA, verified-email recovery, stronger native password storage, general multi-user Lumi control, premium-art and broader device/load gates remain open. Optional libVLC/codec playback is excluded; voice defaults off and is not preview-certified. This is not a GA hosting launch.
The installer is served by GitHub Releases. Download the DMG and SHA256SUMS.txt from Assets, check the complete hash, drag the app to Applications, eject the image and launch the installed app. Viewer source, dependency source, pinned build variables, dependency inventory and verification/provenance accompany the download.

Finalverse 0.4.0-preview.2 — Mac startup hotfix
Superseded: Use v0.4.0-preview.3 for the startup fix and real MutSea signup links. Create your own world account, then use First Last and your password on Finalverse Harbor (Preview). The original historical release notes follow.
Finalverse 0.4.0-preview.2 — Mac startup hotfix
This experimental developer preview replaces preview.1 for new Mac installations.
Fixed
macOS AppTranslocation could show Missing Files, MissingString(MBFatalError) and an error loading settings_files.xml, even with an intact installer. The inherited POSIX reader requested file creation for input-only reads. Its protected read-only mount rejects that request. Input-only reads now use read-only flags; normal output creation is retained.
The early error dialog now has a usable title and Finalverse support links. XML diagnostics preserve the actual filesystem error.
Verification
- Universal build and all 119 CTest checks passed.
- The missing-input regression test failed before the fix and passes afterward.
- On the original protected AppTranslocation mount, all eight native resource reads failed before the fix and passed afterward.
- The staged bundle, mounted read-only DMG and installed copy passed resource and deep/strict ad hoc signature checks.
- The exact installed package reached the login wait state with an isolated fresh profile and no ERROR/FATAL records. Native visual acceptance showed preview.2, empty credentials and no missing-files error; normal Quit and process exit passed.
Install
- Download
Finalverse-0.4.0-preview.2-mac-universal.dmgandSHA256SUMS.txtfrom Assets below. - Compare the complete SHA-256 before opening the image.
- Drag Finalverse Preview.app into Applications, replacing preview.1. Eject the disk image, then launch the installed app.
- Keep your existing profile and account. Resetting preferences, passwords or world data is not part of this fix.
Signing limit: this package has an ad hoc integrity signature. It is not Developer ID signed or notarized, so macOS may still block opening it. Read the Mac installation guide. Do not disable Gatekeeper globally.
Scope
Universal executable (arm64 and x86_64), engine 26.4.0 build 54622. Runtime acceptance is on Apple Silicon; Intel hardware is unverified. This is not a signed/notarized beta or GA release.
Private Harbor access requires your own invitation/account. Downloading the client does not open public registration or world admission. Existing accounts are managed at MutSea. Hosted AI requires the world's advertised capabilities and permissions; Lumi retains an explicit configured controller. Voice defaults off; optional libVLC/codec playback is excluded pending its corresponding-source inventory. No Windows/Linux/mobile artifact or automatic updater is included.
The inherited viewer and dependency source, exact build inputs, provenance, checksums and verification receipt accompany this release. The captioned hosted-Lumi video is the same authentic still-image recap accepted for preview.1; it is not new continuous footage or another world-entry test.

Account entry note
Use an avatar First Last name, not its UUID. Existing profiles keep their selected grid; press ⌘⇧G to reveal the picker and select Finalverse Harbor (Preview) before entering MutSea credentials. A Second Life signup page creates a Second Life account, not a MutSea account. The MutSea account portal currently manages existing accounts; a real registration/provisioning flow is being added separately.
Finalverse 0.4.0-preview.1 — Mac Developer Preview
Superseded: Use v0.4.0-preview.3 for the startup fix and real MutSea signup links. Create your own world account, then use First Last and your password on Finalverse Harbor (Preview). The original historical release notes follow.
Known Mac startup issue (October 16): macOS AppTranslocation can make this version report “Missing Files” /
settings_files.xml, even when the download is intact. This is fixed in preview.2 and later; install the current preview.3 instead. Keep your existing profile and world data; resetting them is not a fix. Apple signing/notarization is a separate limitation.
An experimental Mac developer preview for developers and invited testers. This is not a public-world launch, notarized beta or GA release.
Download and install
- Download
Finalverse-0.4.0-preview.1-mac-universal.dmgandSHA256SUMS.txtbelow. - Verify the DMG with
shasum -a 256and compare its complete hash. - Open the DMG, drag Finalverse Preview.app to Applications, eject the DMG and open the installed copy.
- Read the getting-started guide, including signing and account requirements.
Signing: ad hoc only, without Developer ID signing or notarization. macOS may block opening. Verify the origin/hash before deciding to trust it. Follow Apple's per-app guidance; do not disable Gatekeeper globally. A signed/notarized invited beta remains a separate gate.
Platforms: universal arm64/x86_64 executable; runtime acceptance on Apple Silicon. Intel hardware and other macOS versions are unverified. The configured deployment floor is macOS 12. No Linux, Windows or mobile installer is offered.
What is new
- Create recipe Save/Load/Remix and capability-aware controls.
- Authenticated server-side planning and deterministic avatar-relative spatial placement.
- Hosted Lumi co-building: review, explicit approval, persistent PostgreSQL memory, WorldLine and guarded Undo for the configured controller.
- Fresh installs default to the pinned Finalverse Harbor preview grid; explicit upstream choices remain supported.
- External-grid discovery/help isolation and bounded native fallbacks.
World access and preview scope
The client download does not create an account. Harbor remains an invitation-only private pilot, with operator-provisioned accounts and access windows. Request access through Finalverse getting started. No public test password or cloud API key is bundled. One configured account controls hosted Lumi; a normal invited account does not automatically own that citizen.
Optional libVLC/codec playback is excluded pending its corresponding-source inventory. Voice defaults off and is not preview-certified. The full development source retains both implementations. There is no automatic updater or public SLA. Final art, multi-user onboarding, load and broader device acceptance remain open.
Real demo evidence
The two PNGs show the actual hosted Mac creation and Undo. Finalverse-hosted-Lumi-recap.mp4 is a captioned still-image recap, not a continuous recording. The accepted native scene counts were 423 → 570 → 423, with 147 parts created and removed through the guarded world operations. The VTT captions are provided separately. Acceptance details.
Source, licenses and build provenance
The Finalverse milestone version 0.4.0-preview.1 is independent of the inherited engine version 26.4.0. See the provenance JSON for the exact source/build identity. The release includes corresponding viewer source, pinned LGPL/MPL dependency source, build-variable input, dependency inventory and checksums. Required inherited and third-party notices are also in the app under Contents/Resources/FinalverseDistribution. Build/package instructions.
Report a reproducible issue with release tag, Mac/OS and steps. Redact passwords, private chat and session/capability tokens; do not upload an entire profile.
Artifact verification
The clean universal build and all 119 viewer tests passed. The DMG and deep/strict ad hoc signatures were verified on staged, mounted and installed copies. The installed app was launched with an isolated fresh profile: bundled skins loaded, graphics initialized, the pinned Finalverse grid was selected, and the app reached STATE_LOGIN_WAIT with no ERROR/FATAL records. The final packaged login-screen visual check passed after the Mac was unlocked. The installed DMG showed the correct preview welcome page, empty login fields and invitation instructions, then exited through its normal Quit confirmation. The earlier hosted Create/Undo workflow was visually accepted; it is distinct from this fresh package check. Exact results and remaining gates are in the verification JSON asset.
The initial verification JSON retains the publication-time pending status. The postrelease verification JSON and mac-preview-fresh-login.png close that check without changing the installer or source archives. The full anonymous GitHub DMG download (417,026,137 bytes) matched its SHA-256.
