@qwy16 qwy16 released this 16 Oct 01:30

Superseded: Use v0.4.0-preview.3 for the startup fix and real MutSea signup links. Create your own world account, then use First Last and your password on Finalverse Harbor (Preview). The original historical release notes follow.

Known Mac startup issue (October 16): macOS AppTranslocation can make this version report “Missing Files” / settings_files.xml, even when the download is intact. This is fixed in preview.2 and later; install the current preview.3 instead. Keep your existing profile and world data; resetting them is not a fix. Apple signing/notarization is a separate limitation.

An experimental Mac developer preview for developers and invited testers. This is not a public-world launch, notarized beta or GA release.

Download and install

  1. Download Finalverse-0.4.0-preview.1-mac-universal.dmg and SHA256SUMS.txt below.
  2. Verify the DMG with shasum -a 256 and compare its complete hash.
  3. Open the DMG, drag Finalverse Preview.app to Applications, eject the DMG and open the installed copy.
  4. Read the getting-started guide, including signing and account requirements.

Signing: ad hoc only, without Developer ID signing or notarization. macOS may block opening. Verify the origin/hash before deciding to trust it. Follow Apple's per-app guidance; do not disable Gatekeeper globally. A signed/notarized invited beta remains a separate gate.

Platforms: universal arm64/x86_64 executable; runtime acceptance on Apple Silicon. Intel hardware and other macOS versions are unverified. The configured deployment floor is macOS 12. No Linux, Windows or mobile installer is offered.

What is new

  • Create recipe Save/Load/Remix and capability-aware controls.
  • Authenticated server-side planning and deterministic avatar-relative spatial placement.
  • Hosted Lumi co-building: review, explicit approval, persistent PostgreSQL memory, WorldLine and guarded Undo for the configured controller.
  • Fresh installs default to the pinned Finalverse Harbor preview grid; explicit upstream choices remain supported.
  • External-grid discovery/help isolation and bounded native fallbacks.

World access and preview scope

The client download does not create an account. Harbor remains an invitation-only private pilot, with operator-provisioned accounts and access windows. Request access through Finalverse getting started. No public test password or cloud API key is bundled. One configured account controls hosted Lumi; a normal invited account does not automatically own that citizen.

Optional libVLC/codec playback is excluded pending its corresponding-source inventory. Voice defaults off and is not preview-certified. The full development source retains both implementations. There is no automatic updater or public SLA. Final art, multi-user onboarding, load and broader device acceptance remain open.

Real demo evidence

The two PNGs show the actual hosted Mac creation and Undo. Finalverse-hosted-Lumi-recap.mp4 is a captioned still-image recap, not a continuous recording. The accepted native scene counts were 423 → 570 → 423, with 147 parts created and removed through the guarded world operations. The VTT captions are provided separately. Acceptance details.

Source, licenses and build provenance

The Finalverse milestone version 0.4.0-preview.1 is independent of the inherited engine version 26.4.0. See the provenance JSON for the exact source/build identity. The release includes corresponding viewer source, pinned LGPL/MPL dependency source, build-variable input, dependency inventory and checksums. Required inherited and third-party notices are also in the app under Contents/Resources/FinalverseDistribution. Build/package instructions.

Report a reproducible issue with release tag, Mac/OS and steps. Redact passwords, private chat and session/capability tokens; do not upload an entire profile.

Artifact verification

The clean universal build and all 119 viewer tests passed. The DMG and deep/strict ad hoc signatures were verified on staged, mounted and installed copies. The installed app was launched with an isolated fresh profile: bundled skins loaded, graphics initialized, the pinned Finalverse grid was selected, and the app reached STATE_LOGIN_WAIT with no ERROR/FATAL records. The final packaged login-screen visual check passed after the Mac was unlocked. The installed DMG showed the correct preview welcome page, empty login fields and invitation instructions, then exited through its normal Quit confirmation. The earlier hosted Create/Undo workflow was visually accepted; it is distinct from this fresh package check. Exact results and remaining gates are in the verification JSON asset.

The initial verification JSON retains the publication-time pending status. The postrelease verification JSON and mac-preview-fresh-login.png close that check without changing the installer or source archives. The full anonymous GitHub DMG download (417,026,137 bytes) matched its SHA-256.
