Description
The tray icon for Jami (org.jami.Jami
) does not appear in the system tray. However, tray icons for other Flatpak applications, such as org.gajim.Gajim, are showing properly on the same system. This indicates that other software tray icons are working as expected, and the problem is specific to the Jami Flatpak package.
Steps to reproduce
- Install
org.jami.Jami
from Flathub. - Launch Jami.
- Observe the system tray — no tray icon appears for Jami.
Expected behavior
The Jami tray icon should be visible alongside other running applications in the system tray, similar to Gajim’s icon (a human icon with a gray T-shirt).
Actual behavior
No tray icon appears for Jami, despite other Flatpak applications showing theirs correctly.

Environment
- Distribution:
- Ubuntu MATE 22.04
- Ubuntu MATE 24.04
- Trisquel 11.0.1
- Jami Flatpak version:
org.jami.Jami
(latest from Flathub) - Other Flatpak apps tested:
org.gajim.Gajim
(tray icon visible)
Additional notes
Since the tray icons work for other Flatpak packages on the same systems, this appears to be a packaging or integration issue specific to the Jami Flatpak.
